Spreads are food that are applied, generally
with a knife, onto bread, crackers and similar
food. A spread is used to enhance the flavour or
the texture of the food, which may be
considered bland without it.It is also a way to
help the sandwich be less dry and add another
component such as salt, spice, sweetness, etc.
Fillings
Fillings provide the predominant flavor,
moisture,The main body and nutrients, and the
substance and bulk.It provides the main flavor
of the sandwich, and the choices are nearly
unlimited.It could be a single item or a
combination of several.

spread and sauces?
Spreads and Sauces
Hummus - If you’re a vegetarian, hummus can be the perfect addition to
things like veggie melts and general veggie sandwiches

Mayonnaise - likely one of the popular choices for sandwich spreads, as it is rather
light, adds a slight creaminess, and gives your sandwich a little fat and
saltiness
BBQ Sauce - is a great addition to a sandwich if you want some smokiness, acidity,
and sweetness.

Butter - works best as a barrier to prevent the bread of your sandwich from
getting wet and soggy. It also adds some more flavor to your
sandwich.
