What is the topic all about?
- It's all about Principle, Principle is a fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the
foundation for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning.

- All about SLA or Second Language Acquisition, SLA or sometimes called second-language
learning is the process through which humans learn a second language. Second-language
acquisition is also the name of the scientific field that studies the process.

- Principles of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) Relevant to the Development of Materials

1.Materials should have an impact on the learners in the sense that they
provoke some emotion in the learners.
2. Materials should involve relevant content to the target learners’ needs.
3. Materials should include relevant content to the target learners’
interests which motivates learners to learn the target language
effectively.
4. Materials should help learners to feel secure and develop their
confidence and independence
5. Materials should develop the learners’ awareness of the target
language
6. Materials should develop learners’ cultural awareness
7. Materials should assist learners to use the target language for
communicative purposes
8. Materials should take into account different learning styles of
learners
9. Materials should reflect the learners’ present and future uses
10. Materials should provide the learners with useful content that encourages
them to be involved in learning the language mentally and emotionally.
11. Materials should be flexible in order to give the opportunity for teachers to
adapt the materials to suit their learners’ needs and interests
12. Materials should provide teachers with methodological support to facilitate
their job and provide inspiration to them to articulate creative teaching methods
or ideas.
Why it is being undertaken?
- Students will be able to study more effectively if a teacher combines the effective
concepts of teaching Second Language Acquisition with particular tactics. Students will
have more opportunities as a result of these tactics, and their performance will improve
as well.

- Second language acquisition (SLA) is the process of acquiring and/or learning a

language other than one's native tongue. or Some SLA researchers use the term
'acquisition' to refer to the unintentional, subconscious process of acquiring a language
through exposure and use, while 'learning' refers to the deliberate, conscious study of a
language in order to be able to use it.

- Experience - based discovery approaches, in which learners first respond personally

to the content of an engaging written or spoken text, and then return to make
discoveries about the form and function of a specific feature of that text, are a very
effective way of assisting learners to achieve psychological readiness.

How it will be carried out

- A person's ability to use a second language is determined by his or her family's ability to speak more than
one language. It is critical for parents/caregivers to set a good example in terms of language. If you are
unable to communicate effectively in the language, you should not be teaching it.

- To put the principle into practice, focus on what students communicate rather than how they
communicate; don't constantly correct students' errors, especially when correction interrupts
communication; and use students' errors as indicators of their progress in developing second language
skills.
