BIAG NI LAM-ANG THE LEGEND OF MAGAT RIVER
GENRE:
LEGEND/EPIC LEGEND/EPIC

Each of the two literary works, Biag ni Lam-ang and The Legend of Magat River, has its
own story to tell in the mind and heart of the reader. Because of its elements such as the
story's hero, quest/adventure, valorous deeds, and divine intervention, Biag ni Lam-ang
is considered an epic. Both have similarities and distinctions that need to be highlighted.

Before we compare and contrast the two stories Biag ni Lam-ang and the Legend of Magat
River, we must first distinguish and contrast the two stories. Only Biag ni Lam-ang was
regarded an epic among the two stories. After his roster crowed and his dog barked, Lam-
ang came back to life. Unlike the Legend of the Magat River, Magat drowned himself in
the stream with his sorrows and never awoke. Shortly after, Biag ni Lam-ang receives
heavenly intervention, transforming it into an epic. According to the story Biag ni Lam-
ang, he traveled with his white steed and gray dog, whereas Magat only had his spear to
defend himself. I noticed Magat's wife, who has no name, and Lam-ang, who has Ines.
Despite the fact that they both have the drive, strength, and fortitude to become the
story's hero, only Lam-ang has the capacity to speak and chooses his name at the time of
his birth. The narrative of the Legend of the Magat River mentions the existence of their
Great God Kabunian. The distinctions between Biag ni Lam-ang and the Legend of the
Magat River are as follows.

Let's look at the parallels and differences between the two stories now. First, each story
had its own hero, Lam-ang in one and Magat in the other. Second, they both went on a
journey and completed their mission. Following that, both have the resolve, strength, and
courage to complete and achieve their goals. Their long and perilous journey has come to
an end. Both offer assistance to those who have performed brave acts. In summary,
despite they were not all the same, one thing remained constant: the men's love, heroism,
and sacrifice to protect their people, especially their families (love ones).
