Ammad Parkour: An Athlete with a Purpose

As much as nature has enriched Pakistan with various natural resources, it has also blessed Pakistanis with
numerous natural talents. They don’t have much proper infrastructure and basic training facilities; in spite of
that, they develop their natural abilities on their own and present their talents to the world. In this article, we
will share the story of one such athlete who faced all these challenges, problems and limited resources but
showed his talent to the professional world. Turning his hobby into a passion, he honed his skills on a
professional level.

Born in 1998, Ahmed, who hails from Quetta, started this dangerous and challenging sport, Parkour, at the age
of 13. He says that in the beginning, he had to face a lot of difficulties due to a lack of facilities. There was no
sufficient family support, but they were probably worried about what would happen to my future.

Despite all these problems, Ahmed did not give up, and thanks to continuous hard work and effort, he made his
name. Ahmed says that if he gets professional facilities and sponsorship, he can shine the name of Pakistan on
the world level in the very best way. Ahmed said that despite the difficulties in this journey, he continued to
move forward and achieve success. In our country, if the youth are trained in positive activities and sports,
they can fully express their true potential.

Ahmed’s story is similar to that of many ordinary Pakistani players, but one thing that makes Ahmed unique
from others is that he did not surrender to the circumstances but made his own way through continuous hard
work. In my opinion, it is not only the responsibility of the government, but multinational companies and social
institutions also have to come forward and support such talented players in full measure so that their skills can
be fully utilized. And other newcomers in society can also be encouraged to participate in positive and healthy
practical activities.

Ahmed says that if we want our youth to not get involved in negative activities, then we have to attract our
youth towards sports, and we have to provide them with basic facilities.

Because sports develop self-discipline and self-confidence in the youth, and they can show their natural talent
in a better way.

Ahmed said that the media also has to play its role in this regard because the way cricket gets priority and
publicity, the players of other sports should get coverage so that they can get public attention and appreciation.

In his recent interview with a newspaper, he said before switching to Parkour completely; he had proved his
mettle as an athlete by winning a gold medal in the Wushu fighting system at the 2014 national championships
held in Lahore, followed by two silver medals in Ju-Jitsu Newaza national championships.

Ahmed has participated in the Army Wushu Championships (2015-2019) consecutively, the opening ceremony
of all Pakistan T-20 Cricket Cup Quetta 2014, the opening ceremony of the 2015 Ju Jitsu National
Championship in Lahore, the opening ceremonies of Wushu National Championships (2015-2021)
consecutively, and the opening ceremonies of Football Championships 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019 and 2021,
Ammad’s team has also performed in several commercials, and films such as Teefa In Trouble
(2018) and Umro Ayaar (2021).

He said the credit for his success goes to his wife, Binafsha Didar, for supporting him all the way.

Ahmed believes if he has full support from Government and Corporate Sector, he can make his country proud
at the highest level.

Ahmed said that if there is proper training, coaching and financial support in Pakistan, Pakistani athletes can
win many medals in the Olympics and other world tournaments.

All that is required is that the athlete should be provided with facilities and given full support and the same
status in society as athletes in developed countries have. We need to encourage our athletes.
