4-1 Classifying Triangles

Objectives: 1. Identify and classify triangles by angle measures.


2. Identify and classify triangles by side measure.

Triangle: the figure formed by three segments joining three noncollinear points.
Each of the three points is a vertex of the triangle. (The plural is vertices.)
The segments are the sides of the triangle.

Classify Triangles by Angles One way to classify a triangle is by the measures of its angles.

Classify Triangles by Sides You can classify a triangle by the number of congruent sides. Equal numbers of hash
marks indicate congruent sides.
