I believe that the Liberal Arts and Sciences program at University College Utrecht is a great fit for me, as I

have been always interested in science and nature in general. Skills that prove that are: a problem-
solving attitude and a critical thinking. My spectrum of interests is pretty large and therefore this
program would help me cover more subjects and more importantly it would contribute to the
development of the right skills. That would help me understand how to apply the knowledge in a real-
world environment.

I would most like to study Biology, with a focus on Genetics, this being the code to our existence.
However, I believe that life can only be studied from different perspectives, this being the only way we
could get closer to the right answers. This means it is important to combine Physics, Biology, Chemistry
and even Philosophy and Psychology. Life is the most fascinating and broad subject that will never stop
evolving, changing and surprising us. I truly believe studying about life will be for me a forever learning
process that will keep me going and never get boring, untill the end of my existence.

Curiosity was my main trigger to study. Ever since I was little I kept searching for answers, however, I can
motivate myself to study thinking that what I do is meaningful, or can be meaningful. In Romania,
particularly in my School, we are used to study alone, however, in the last year I had the chance to work
in teams by learning and preparing for an international competition called YPEF (Young People in
European Forests). The debates we had while working in teams have been very important as it helped
bringing new perspectives. I feel I prefer a mix of self study which would allow me to pace myself and
help with focus and teamwork for its different insights and perspectives as well as for the higher flux of
information.
