Last Saturday, I really enjoyed listened of what we tackled and it’s all about philosophy.

As we know Philosophy comes from the words “Philos” which mean love and “Sophos” which
mean wisdom which is literally, Love of Wisdom. The reporter also gave the branches of
Philosophy namely Metaphysics (most general feature of reality), Logic (reasoning),
Epistemology (concerned with the nature) and Axiology (Ethics). In my personal life, after the
discussion, I have a better understanding of what philosophy is. As an educator philosophy
plays important role especially in our curriculum nowadays. I always thought philosophy was a
pretty inconsequential and vague subject until I took this subject this semester.

For me, philosophy is very important for everyone because it applies to life better than
any other discipline does. It explains deeply a subject that seems really banal to us and bring to
light its importance. Also, philosophy helps people to think critically, use their reason to give
their opinion and make people see the world in its essence. As times goes by this subject always
help me. The awareness and understanding given as I listen in the reporter are empirical. The
best example base on life experience that I applied philosophy was to approach any problem
especially in school and in our own home as a breadwinner is I need to have some knowledge
and understanding about it. All throughout since in my educational till my professional career, I
am bound to face many of these problems but, I will always find the best possible solution to
the issues and this particular skill of mine has enriched in studying philosophy.

Knowledge of philosophy of education would benefit not only teachers, administrators,

and policy makers at all levels but also students, parents, and citizens generally. Societies
that value education and desire that it be conducted in a thoughtful and informed way ignore
the philosophy of education at their peril. Its relevance, reach, and potential impact make it
perhaps the most fundamental and wide-ranging area of applied philosophy.
