“DEAD STARS (FOR PAZ MARQUEZ BENITEZ)
BY H.O. SANTOS”

The poem entitled Dead Stars ( for Paz Marquez Benitez) and was wrote by H.O.
Santos. When I first started reading the poem, I assumed it was just ordinary love
poetry. However, after reading it several times, I became more interested in it.
It piqued my interest even further. The poem depicts how the essence of love
evolves, which is relevant in today’s generation. Nowadays, the essence of love for
each individual is now very realistic. They are eager to take risks, regardless of the
consequences. From the title itself, you can understand the flow of the poem. You
can truly feel the emotions because of the writer's point of view, who is secretly in
love and hiding his feelings from the girl.

His love and feelings were so strong that no one could stop him. However, he never
had the courage to express his feelings in verbal. Lately, He realized not telling her
was a big repentance. He wonders if he and the girl have the same feelings as he
does, but all he can feel now is sorrow and regret. The author was really creative in
portraying the poem. I myself can honestly claim that this is a good example to relate to
those who read this poem. Why can't the boy verbally express his feelings to the girl?
The boy may lack courage because he believes the girl has a crush, is in love with
someone else, or is in a relationship. On the other hand, H. O. Santos was such a great
author. He was able to touch the hearts of those readers with what he wrote.

Furthermore, I've learned a lot about this poem. The one thing or lesson I have learned
is that you should never be afraid to tell someone something, especially if it is about
your love and feelings; instead of passing it up, seize it. There is nothing wrong with
verbally confessing your feelings. Don't pass up an opportunity that could make you
happy and content. Don't let your negative thoughts win. Be more confident when
expressing your feelings to others. Readers can really relate to this poem and take it as
a lesson. Though it is a little bit sad for the authors, he was able to express it in a nice
way. I really enjoy reading this poem since it teaches me a lesson. This poem deserves
to be recognized internationally.
