Spiritual Hunger

Matthew 5:6 - Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they
shall be filled.
John 7:37
- Jesus stood in a loud voice about those who thirst.
- It was a feast. Not in a desert.
Psalm 42:1 - As the deer pant for the water, so my soul longs for you.
Psalm 63:1 -

Spiritual Hunger
- Jesus talks strongly about spiritual hunger.
- Spiritual hunger is not physical hunger where water can quench it.
- What we will talk is hunger for God.
What God wanted to do? - He wants to restore our spiritual appetite.

Spiritual Hunger- vital in our relationship with God and to our spiritual growth.
- The measure of a spiritually healthy Christian is your spiritual hunger. You
desire His Word, His presence
- If you do not desire His Word, there's a problem.
- To be fruitful and to grow in the Lord, one must be hungry spiritually. (1 Peter
2:2)
- Even your blessings are connected to your spiritual hunger.
(Those who receive miracles are hungry for Jesus. They ran after him)
- The power of God was released.
- How deep is my hunger for the Lord? It will affect us this year 2022.
- Hunger can be spiritual expectation. Those who are hungry are

Observations
1. Spiritual Hunger brings great delight to God.
2. Spiritual hunger is one of the important qualities that He looks for in our
lives. (2 Chronicles 16:9)
3. Spiritual Hunger is one important key to blessings and the presence of God.
- Who are they that are filled with the Holy Spirit? The hungry ones. (Isaiah 44:3)

Spiritual Hunger: is a longing for God that is overwhelming.It is a strong desire

for God and his presence
- Hunger: a deep seeking of God. It is manifested by our opnennes to the Spirit and
His Word.
- One of the most challenging thing to sustain is Spiritual Hunger.
- I am preaching. I am playing instrument. I am doing ministry works. But no
spiritual hunger.

- Spiritual Hunger: a desire that attracts the heavenly fullness to overflow into
your life.
- It is an active state of the soul that continually seeks its object until it is
satisfied.

1. SH is an indicator of spiritual condition.

2. Must be guarded and cultivated. (if not cultivated even flowers can be dried up)
The Holy Spirit is cultivating hunger
3. Gift from God (you cannot produced it. treasure it.)
4. Can be nourished or ignored. (act upon the hunger)
5. an escort to the deep things of God. (you smell food and you are directed to it)
6. highly contagious (Luke 11:1)
7. It is the landing strip for the Holy Spirit (Welsch Revival, Evan Roberts)

How to Cultivate Spiritual HUnger

1. Pray for it. Seek God to awaken a new hunger for Him. (ASK)
2. Set Time for you to meet with God. (Mark 1:35/Luke 5;16)
3. Choose what you feed your soul carefully (entertainment / Matthew 4:4)/ reading,
listening, memorize. meditate
4. Start competing appetites (Fasting) - Starve yourself from worldy things.
- Solomon said (I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; i refuse my heart no
pleasure)
5. Seek the infilling of the Holy Spirit in a regular basis.
