BG was surprised by his success as the co-founder of Microsoft. As a child, he was passionate about software and technology rather than money, founding Microsoft in 1975 after being inspired by an Altair computer magazine article. Even after becoming a billionaire, BG remained conservative with company finances and his personal spending in order to ensure Microsoft could weather challenges. His advice for aspiring programmers is to create programs, get feedback to improve, and persevere towards their dreams.

I1= Today we have a very special guest that everyone might know, let’s welcome one
of the multibionaire and the co-owner of Microsoft, Bill gates!!!!!!
I2= wohoooo give applause (applause) I1= so this is your first interview here with us correct? BG= yes indeed this is my first time interview here. I2= And I see you brought your daughter here with you, how old Is she now? BG= she’s now 21 I1= And you were a billionaire when you were 21 is that right? BG= yeah, almost I1= but around that age you were one of the youngest billionaire right? BG= Yeah in term of earning it on my own. I2= So when you were a kid, which is more important to you? Do you care more about money or technology? BG= Mostly I love software, I do remember at the private school I went to there were other kids whose families were better off.Like they had a Porsche or something. But it wasn't that big of a deal.My thing was that I just loved doing software, I love hiring other people. And I was stunned when it ended up being so valuable. I1= really, so it surprised you? BG=yeah,Because I always had to be careful that we wouldn't hire too many people. I was always worried because people who worked for me were older than me and they had kids. And I always thought well what if we don't get paid. Will I be able to meet the payroll? So I was always very conservative about the finances. And then when we did go public, what was I? 30, by then. Then I was kind of stunned at what it multiplied out to. I2= Right. So, when you became a billionaire,at what point did you start relaxing? Were you still nervous when you became a billionaire? BG=Well I always wanted to have enough money in the bank, so that even if our customers didn't pay us for a year,we could still keep paying everybody and do the R&D. So I'd still be viewed as conservative. I don't have that many things that are extravagant taste so it didn't change too much. I1=Can you tell us a bit about microsoft, how did you make huge progresses in the last few decades? BG= I was working with one of my friend Paul Allen, who’s really smart at programming, I enrolled at Harvard University while Allen pursued a degree in computer science at Washington State University, and in January 1975 issue of Popular Electronics featured Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems's (MITS) Altair 8800 microcomputer, which inspired Allen to suggest that we could program a BASIC interpreter for the device.Allen and I established Microsoft on April 4, 1975, with me as the CEO, and Allen suggested the name "Micro-Soft", short for micro-computer software. I2= Do you have any advice for beginners who want to start to program a software? BG= Don’t be afraid to make a new program. Once you made it, you should show it for someone because we all need people who can give us feedback. That’s how we can improve to be better. I1= such an inspiring word, very good advice! I2= yes, I agree, lets give him a round of applause, we’re very glad to have you here today! BG= Thank you, I hope I can inspire people to succeed, just don’t give up on your dream, and make this generation into a better one. Everyone= applause!!!
