WRITE UP REPORT OF PTC DAVAO ORIENTAL ON THE ACTUAL TRAINING OF

FOOD PROCESSING NC II AT BARANGAY DON ENRIQUE LOPEZ, MATI CITY,


DAVAO ORIENTAL

Don Enrique Lopez is the only priority barangay in Mati City, Davao Oriental that
was recognized and identified as a beneficiary of ELCAC. In line with this, the office of
TESDA Provincial Training Center-Davao Oriental completely granted a scholarship
program for the bonafide residents belongs to marginalized community including 1 Out
of School Youth, 12 Indigenous people, 9 industry workers and 3 4P’s beneficiaries a
total of 25 recipients. Additionally, the said scholarship aims to cultivate individual’s
mind to become productive citizens amidst Covid-19 Pandemic.

The training conducted is Food Processing NC II qualification under Agriculture


and Fishery, Processed food and Beverages sector with a training duration of 69 days.
A Training Induction Program was conducted for a full qualification training that was
started last June 29, 2021 up to September 14, 2021 using blended learning as a
delivery mode. The training used a combine asynchronous and synchronous learning
modality through Google meet and Google classroom for discussions and a Hands on
practice during practicum. The Trainee’s prepared and demonstrated different
processed foods using different food processing methods such as Salting, Curing and
Smoking for Competency 1, Fermentation and Pickling for Competency 2, Sugar
Concentration for Competency including Packaging of processed finished products in
Competency 4.

In recognition of Prior Learning before the training some of the beneficiaries


already took up COC 3 Processed Food by Sugar Concentration leading to Food
Processing NC II which was conducted by Davao Oriental Polytechnic Institute during
their Community Based Training. This Trainee’s was given an opportunity to accumulate
the remaining COC’s of the said qualification to get the National Certificate Level II.
Most of the Trainees are student’s and Indigenous People so it is a new experienced for
them that can help develop not just there self but as well as their community.
During the training TESDA Provincial Training Center-Davao Oriental conducted
an organizational capability building program that aim to assist the Trainee’s in forming
and registering of an association with the invited Resource Speaker Mrs. Salvacion T.
Balanay sharing her expertise in organizing and managing Association. The Trainee’s
also helped in the successful TESDAmayan during the 27 th year of TESDA Anniversary
which aims to extend help to the community by setting up Community Pantry in the said
Barangay. Trainee’s output was displayed in the pantry and shared to the people within
the community.

Institutional Assessment was conducted at PTC-Davao Oriental after the


completion of the training to evaluate if the Trainees are ready to take the National
Assessment. Then trainee’s after the training was able to take the National Assessment
in Food Processing NC II with a 100% certification rate. They are also planning to
organize an Association namely Peoples Association with the help of the Revitalized-
Pulis sa Barangay (R-PSB). Some of the trainees’ started already with their own
livelihood business an income generated products to sustain their daily living by making
processed Tocino and Longganisa which they sell within the community. Some of them
already had advanced orders for jam and jellies to be sold during Christmas season.
Most of them, prepared the variety of processed food products within their home to be
enjoyed by their families.

Therefore, the Knowledge, Skills and Attitude they gain from the training has
equipped them to confidently venture in processing different type of foods, to be an
effective entrepreneur within their community by selling their processed foods and to
have income generating products which is beneficial not just for an individual but for the
whole community as well indeed it’s true that in TESDA Abot Lahat.
