Why is it a social problem?

Teenage mothers have higher risks of


living on lower incomes, lower
educational achievements and
difficulties with housing and family
conflicts when compared to their peers

Based on our information gathered and based


on Philippine Statistics Authority. One in ten
young Filipino women age 13-19 has begun
childbearing, 8% are already mothers and
another 2% are pregnant with their first
child
For what amount of time are they affected?

The pregnancy of adolescents


affects them every day
How severe are the effects?
Teenagers getting pregnant at an early
age cannot pursue their high education
due to extra responsibility.
A teenage mother has to face several
social obligations like not getting a good job
and does not get proper financial
support.

complete their education.

I suggest improving the situation of


developing a community-based
the approach which utilizes school sex
education and shares some knowledge
about birth control.

What must change so that the problem can be addressed?
Parents should supervise and monitor
their children. Help them set
real meaningful goals for their future.

need to do to reach their goals, and
