How did god reveal god self to humankind?
In Creation - All the things that we see around us are proofs of God’s creation.
In the Scriptures - God knows the strengths and weaknesses of people.
In the Church - The Church in the Old testament refers to the chosen people of God, a
community of believers headed by leaders anointed by God.
In other religions- There are many non-Christian religious and they are fast increasing
number. For some Catholics, their figures are cause of alarm.

1ST STAGE:HUMAN EXPERIENCE
- Refers to the encounter of the people with God. It is basically their religious experience
of God as He revealed himself to them either directly or indirectly.
2ND STAGE: ORAL STAGE
-Refers to the times people conveyed by heart their religious experience of God through word of
mouth from one generation to another.
3RD STAGE:WRITTEN STAGE
-From oral tradition these collections of thoughts and understandings recorded by various authors
and formed into separate writing books.
SACRED SCRIPTURES
-Sacred Scripture is the collection of holy and inspired writings officially and solemnly
recognized in the Christian canon. They are written through the instrument of human hands but
authored by God (CCC 105-106).
OLD TESTAMENT - narrates the story between God and his people before Jesus Christ.
Includes not only stories but also God’s teachings that the covenant might be kept faithfully, and
that everyone receives salvation.
NEW TESTAMENT - focuses specially on the new covenant between God and people
established by Jesus Christ.
HOW MANY BOOKS ARE THERE IN THE OLD TESTAMENT?
There are 46 books in the Old Testament
WHAT ARE THE BOOKS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT?
1. TORAH/PENTATEUNCH - Known as the five books of Moses.
2. HISTORICAL BOOKS - deal with the life and experiences of the Israelites.
3. WISDOM BOOKS/LATER BOOKS - are written by different people in order to deal
with the concerns and problems in life.
4. DEUTEROCANOMINAL BOOKS- Are part of the [greek] Septuagint or Lox, the
Scripture of the Early Christians.
5. PROPHETIC BOOKS- Are written by the prophets.
