Journal Entry 3

For the past couple of weeks we’ve been preparing for the library art display of November. It’s

our most ambitious project yet, we plan to get the whole school involved in helping us create it.

The display will be of a turkey being covered in “feathers” (bookmarks) with kind/thankful

messages on them. The goal of this project is to join the student body together to help celebrate

Thanksgiving. I started off by sending out an email to SMSA teachers, that student librarians

would be visiting their classroom throughout the week. I was in charge of creating the turkey

body and handing out the bookmarks to classrooms all throughout the school. At first I was

nervous about talking to multiple classrooms filled with students but I eventually got used to it. I

was able to adapt to the situation and create a script in my head. After about a week of

preparations we were finally able to display all of our hard work and show off the turkey with all

of its feathers included. The following days afterwards, I kept getting pleasant comments from

some teachers and how much they and their students enjoyed the activity. One day while I was in

the guidance office Mrs. Petrillo went up to me and said she couldn’t wait to see me do one of

these activities again.
