The Holocaust, Consequence of the
State of Mind and Attitude of the
Heart

Abstract
The Holocaust is the systematic
persecution and annihilation of
European Jews by Nazi Germany and
its collaborators between 1933 and
1945. There are different assertions
about the causes and consequences of
this significant event in history. It is
concluded that the Holocaust was
caused by the Nazi Germans falsely
accusing the Jews of being responsible
for their economic and political
instability. As a result, six million Jews
died, philosophical doctrines about
happiness changed, and faith in
Germans was lost.

The persecution and murder of
thousands of European Jews organized
by the National Socialist State between
1939 and 1945 is recognized as The
Holocaust., event that has impacted
humanity for its strong crimes. The
causes and social consequences of this
genocide are a fundamental matter, due
to the vague knowledge about it. It is
important to deepen in the social
contexts and situations that motivated
the German perpetrators to act against
the Jewish people and the results in the
respective society.

When the National Socialist state came
to power, the German authorities first
persecuted other minorities classified
according to their "racial inferiority",
such as the Gypsies. Other groups were
persecuted for political, ideological,
religious issues. Subsequently, the
Holocaust arose, an event in which
every single Jew in European countries
was murdered, regardless of their
activities. To carry out the extermination
of this population, the Jews were taken
to concentration camps, where, at the
end of everything, most of them they
died.
With the above, the common causes
and consequences of the Holocaust
have generally been established over
time. The conduct against the Jews was
due to the Nazis holding the Jews
responsible for their hardship and
poverty; and they convinced themselves
that the Jews were conspiring against
them and that they were lower because
of their appeareance. As a result, the
Nazi regime became richer, six million
Jews were murdered, philosophical
doctrines about happiness were
changed and faith in the Germans was
shattered.

The Holocaust was an unfair crime
against the Jews, an innocent civilian
population and subject of human rights.
It is not true that they betrayed their
nation in the course of World War I, as
the angry Nazis accused them of doing
because of their defeat. On the contrary,
more than 100,000 German Jews fought
for their homeland, among them Otto
Frank, the father of the famous Anne
Frank, who was at the Battle of the
Somme. On the other hand, it is true
that there were Jews from all ways of
life. Some families were rich, but many
were poor. The wealth of some was the
fruit of their own labor, so they were not
the cause of the poverty of the
Germans, this would be attributed to the
strong measures of the Treaty of
Versailles.
The image the Nazis had of the Jews
was quite the opposite, Hitler (1925)
stated that "The Jew is and always will
be the typical parasite, a bug, which, like
a harmful microbe, spreads more and
more, when it is in suitable conditions.
His vital action resembles that of the
parasites of Nature" (p. 172). It is
inhuman such a comparison of the
Nazis towards the Jews, that hatred and
contempt were also the cause of Hitler's
polemic speeches against this people.
These ideas were anti-Jewish, based on
such worthless assumptions as the
Aryan race, the poor economic
development of the nation, and political
instability on the part of the Jews.
Clearly, this was intended to eliminate
the Jewish population and cleanse
society, conceding Hitler's wishes
constituted "a flexible and necessarily
experimental [...] attempt, born of a
conscious intention, to eliminate alleged
Jewish power and influence as
absolutely and definitely as
possible"(Goldhagen, 1996, p. 178).
It is amazing how a belief or ideology
can cause a great disaster in humanity.
Everything that begins with a thought
ends in an action. The Nazis, led by
Hitler and motivated by misconceptions,
committed the murder of some Jews
and the disappointment of many who
survived. The Holocaust shocked all of
humanity, leaving uncertainty as to how
far people are willing to go to get what
they want. The Jews of that time were
vulnerable and innocents, but never
susceptible to oblivion. Now, is it
possible that evil thoughts similar to the
Nazi leaders are inspiring the minds of
our rulers to the point of following their
discriminatory and genocidal ideology?
Conclusions
Throughout history there have been
several events in which human rights
have been violated, events that cause
deep sadness and discouragement in
the heart of man. One of them, the
Holocaust. There, many Jews lost their
freedom, the hope of living a future full
of love, joy and fraternity when they
were victims of the betrayal of their own
compatriots, their neighbors and friends.
So much suffering was caused by an
ideology whose foundations were made
up of anger and revenge. The Nazis
believed that Jews were the cause of
Germany's economic and political
misfortune. This idea grew into a deep-
seated hatred of them, causing the
suffering and death of many Jews. It is
clear that this population was innocent
and suffered because of the anger and
envy that can take root in the human
heart. This resulted in the death of six philosophical doctrines about happiness
million Jews, the change of and the loss of faith in the Germans.
