Programme Framework:
The Cohort 3 Programme will be structured around providing Secondary 3 students with
experiences where they engage in a cycle of service and reflection by active participation in the
elderly befriending programme.
The following five primary components of Service Learning will be achieved by the end of the
Cohort 3 LLP-Cohort VIA:
Programme Outcomes:
The purpose of the Cohort 3 LLP/VIA programme is to:
• Nurture grateful, respectful & compassionate Canberrans
• Develop students as servant leaders who bring joy and give hope to the elderly
• Develop empathy and understanding of the Frail (the elderly) through their research and
experiential learning
• Build class spirit as students work together to impact the community

Each service session with the beneficiaries will involve only half the class.
Please swop the service groups (Group A and B) to ensure all students have a chance to interact with the elderly. Interactions with
the elderly to be held over Zoom/face-to-face (depending on the beneficiary).
• The other half of the class will plan and prepare for the activities for the following weeks. Suggested activities: simple
exercises, art & craft, music (do note the requirements of the different beneficiaries)
• A budget of $100 per class has been allocated for the purchase of materials for the activities planned.
• Assignment of groupings
• Setting of Service Objectives / Learning Objectives

• Preparation for befriending programme
