Dear Mrs. Boutilier,

My capstone is being an Athletic Assistant with Mr. Svoboda, I would be working after school
either in the main gym or field house, and it would mainly be any home games for both
volleyball and basketball. Since I know I am a junior TA for the athletic team that’ll mean it will
lead to a lot of responsibilities that I am prepared for, such as finding people that would be
willing to help out with setting up games, making sure that there are people who will run the
ticket stand, setting up chairs for the players, putting out signs and notifications that there will be
a game one day, making sure that there is someone who will run the concession stand or even
help people with their capstone that need the gym and or field house if they were to ever host a
game or fundraiser. The reason why I chose to do this as my capstone is that I have a passion for
helping people and providing them with the support they need or that they are missing out on
because I know that there are things that people need a spare hand on knowing that they can’t
always do it on their own.

What are the benefits of volunteering ? Some of the benefits on volunteering is that it helps
people's mental health such as if someone was dealing with stress or has really bad anxiety or
just not feeling it that day, they just help the people that need support because it would take their
mind off of what goes on but not only that but they would also be doing something good for
themselves and also for the community as well. But then there are people out there that would
just want to help people out because they would put themselves in the people's shoes of people in
need and realize that life isn’t as easy as it seems.

My mentor is Mr. Svoboda, his contact information is svobj001@hartfordschools.org and he

qualifies to be my mentor because he is an Athletic Director here at SMSA and knows how to
manage and control what goes on within the sports community. Mr. Svoboda has known me for
about 1 year now and he has been an excellent teacher and supporter as well. Whenever I need
help with anything he just knows how to explain what we're working on, he knows how to guide
very well, and is also a very good communicator. My learning stretch will be being in the life of
an adult, and knowing the struggles and outcomes that come within. This pushes me because this
is giving me the responsibility to become the better person that I am now.

Sincerely,

Alondra Maldonado
