Business Communication
Professor Sturgill
My Lifelong Values.
The values that drive my life are fundamental. Respect is the most important to me because it is
necessary in everyday life. In business, in public, and amongst peers, respect falls valuable for all
invested in the interaction. It is in the interest of everyone to be respectful with each other. Even
between young and old, both must attend to the values of respect in order to successfully
communicate. There is so much to learn from each other and the base to start this relationship is
respect.
Life is not livable without enjoying it, so I also need pleasure. My life is driven by pleasure
because it is what makes me happy. I need to wake up and feel that I will do something that I
love and that I am going to enjoy; otherwise, I am going through the motions of life without
interest.
I want to impact people around me, and I want them to have an impact on me. My mentality is to
continuously be improving myself, and always strive to be the greatest person that I can be, and
for that, I need great people next to me. At the same time, I also need to help the people
struggling to become a better version of themselves. The human being needs to share their
chance because we are all equal. I feel that fairness is not present enough in our world, and most
people are impacted by unfairness every day. Everyone deserves a chance to become someone
better.
The last value would be happiness, and I do think if I respect the four values above. I could
spread fairness and impact people around me with always a pleasure to do what I am doing. I
I believe that my joy would be my most important strength. I am happy to live my life, and I am
grateful for all the experiences I have been through. Even through difficult experiences, I have
found ways to come out stronger. I have been joyful most of the time and do the job I needed to
do with a positive energy. I do think that my joy to live spreads to other people, and the
atmosphere is positive most of the time. I like most of the people that I know and do not show
any hate or dislike, and I get along easily with my coworkers and classmate.
My biggest weakness is that I am bad at small talk, and it is tough for me to be integrated into a
new group if nobody helps me to be integrated. Interpersonal connection beyond surface level is
tough, because I feel like I am forcing conversations. It could have a bad impact on how I work
until I am not integrated within the team. If the company is looking for immediate results, I
I am practicing small talk whenever I have the occasion. I am integrated at ORU through
comfort zone and engaging in small talk would help me later. Rather than just scraping the
surface, I also try to talk to connect deeper with some of the teammates that I know the least. I
want people to know that I am interested in what they are saying. This will help me succeed in
the future.
