MITING DE AVANCE SPEECH

Good morning my fellow vincentians!, I hope you’re all doing well, My

name is Trisha Fortich and I’m running to be your next student council
as Gas representative. One important thing I stand by in life is to have
fun, high school is an important portion of our lives that we should
enjoy, aside from this stressful schoolworks. I believe I can represent our
strand despite our number in the best possible way and help create a
positive and inclusive environment. I know that I already won because I
have no opponent in the other party, but the question is, Am I deserving
in this position? Well DEFINITELY! I am a hard-working dedicated
student, school is one of my main focuses and ensuring I stay organized
with school related events as a task I am more than capable of. I can also
help bring some of your ideas that you would like to see it happen, if
you want it I got it! As Gas representative, one of my main advocacies
that I want to happen is I want “less talking and more action” in our
school. Too many students are not learning and every moment that we
don’t act is a moment wasted in a student’s life. I want to focus on
classroom practice, because that’s where change needs to happen, If
we’re unto something, WE DO IT. Talking and spending are not
substitutes for our actions. And if we find ourselves being vague, that's
something we shouldn’t be doing which is avoiding accountability for
our actions.
At the end of the day, we must learn how to curb the surprise, panic and
blame that ensues whenever change or new situations arise in this
school. It’s our buy-in and action that matters. I want to encourage
ourselves and my teams to embrace reality and figure out how we can
make a positive impact in spite of the changes at hand. If we want to be
able to influence decisions in the future, the only way we will get there
is by producing amazing results today. Through my advocacy, I would
like to connect this to my platform. Peer facilitating involves
empowering students to take on leadership roles in promoting positive
behavior, building relationships, and creating a sense of community
within the school. Peer facilitators can be trained to lead group
discussions, organize team-building activities, and develop peer-led
interventions for issues such as bullying, conflict resolution, and mental
health. Through these activities, students can develop important skills
such as communication, teamwork, and leadership, which can be applied
in other areas of their lives. Peer facilitators can encourage participation
from students who may feel marginalized or excluded, and can work to
break down social barriers and stereotypes. Communicating with the
student body is an essential aspect I believe all student council should
have, I love hearing feedbacks and I would have no problem listening to
your questions, concerns, and/or ideas. I have no way to assure you that
I can give you better leadership, but the least you can give me is a
chance, a chance to prove, and a chance I would not waste. Let’s all
help and make SVCI a better place! thank you all for your time, and
goodluck to my fellow candidates, once again I’m Trisha Fortich, your
friendly gas representative and remember to believe, be better, be brave,
be real, vote straight, vote wisely, vote for BElift party!
