Alison Jackson Fraiser

Lead Consultant
All Business Consulting, Inc.
123 Leadership Rd.
Anytown, RI 20818

Dear Ms. Jackson Fraiser,

I am writing to you to express my interest regarding the position of a Business Consultant in Political
Science and Criminology and Criminal Justice. I heard about this position through LinkedIn, and received
more information regarding this position through individuals who have worked for this company prior. Not
only that, this company is located in my home state, and I feel that I would be a great fit for this position, and
be able to really empathize and understand the issues facing this state, and how we as a company, can work
to reform issues facing our state in our prisons and state legislation. Having first-hand experience growing up
in Rhode Island, I truly know the people in this state, and feel more than qualified with my expertise,
life-experiences, and strengths for this position.

Currently, as a Tour Guide for the University of Rhode Island and a Study Session/TA for Intro to American
Politics, I feel that my job experiences have really prepared me for taking on a more advanced role regarding
laws and prisons. Through my time as a TA, I have had to conduct meetings/classes for students, some who
have been 20 years my senior. Being on the younger side of life, I have had to mature much more than
others, and I feel that this relays back into my hard-working and dedicated drive to succeed within my time
at URI. Being a double major and double minor has its challenges, but I am goal-oriented and focus-driven,
and it has shown in my academics, making dean’s list every semester and having a cumulative 3.72 grade
point average, while switching majors several times. Furthermore, something that has been formative to
growth has been the Leadership Program at URI, which has allowed me the opportunity to learn how I am a
leader, and how I can be a leader for this company. I have learned my strengths, and how I can apply those in
the classroom and beyond. I take input from others, and have been able to collaborate with my fellow
classmates and students, when teaching PSC 113, giving virtual tours for students, and when working with
my students in the leadership institute, I always am willing to take criticism and learn from others. Not only
that, but I continue despite many other activities going on, am able to maintain a positive attitude, rain or
shine, and can represent the company, and uphold strong professional standards, whether that be on serving
on accreditation boards and standards boards. I have a strong ability to build concrete relationships with
others, and work to create the spaces for others to grow; or woo. I have worked through my time as a Peer
Leader for the Leadership Institute, to help other students from all different backgrounds and identities learn
and connect to their inner leader, amidst a global pandemic, all while transitioning to a new environment as
first-year students. I have assisted in implementing policies that were developed by the
management/coordinating team regarding the students and their growth, and was able to establish credibility
with these students to spark their interest in the leadership program. Even though the connection was held
through the internet, I worked tirelessly to ensure my students were able to find a safe space to grow and
make meaningful roots.

I have had the privilege of facilitating throughout my time in college, and this has given me the chance to
gain some amazing life skills. As a member of e-councils through my sorority, I have had the chance to
conduct programming for outside individuals within the needs of the organization. As the academic chair, I
work with members of my chapter and the Greek community as a whole to implement tactics and policies
that will help students achieve their academic goals, and feel supported whenever they need to. This has
taught me the ability to identify problems and create a game plan. Being an unbiased team player, I can work
with anyone to help them succeed. In my time as a Tour Guide, I have to facilitate workshops online, with
individuals with varying backgrounds of technology needs. I provided support for those who wanted to learn
more about URI, but gave the professors present the tools they needed to present inclusively. I consoled them
on how to present fairly, and felt that I was able to keep the group on track. In a virtual world, it is hard to
get everyone connected, but my experiences gave me the chance to maintain strong interpersonal skills and
create a mental image for everyone, even though we are not all in one room together.

I am confident that my experience at URI and my strengths have prepared me for consideration regarding
this position. I am more than willing to step up and work hard for this company every day. If you would like,
the best way to contact me is my email address, and I can provide you with additional resources if necessary.
I look forward to hearing from you and discussing this position with you further.

Sincerely,

Emma M. North
