LABYRINTH GARDEN OF BARRIERS

AND EMPTY ASSUMPTIONS

As you see with my model, it's different from other communication models you see on the internet or in
books. That's because I have created my model based on how difficult it is to navigate and get your
message through another communicator because of the endless barriers and dead-ends.

I didn't add a lot of labels, because it defeats the purpose of navigating a difficult trail. If you knew the
obstacles already, you would be able to win the maze swiftly. It's not realistic, so I'll just point it out
here in the explanation.

Communication is a complex process, so I say, why not make my model complex as well?

Let me ask you this: what would you pick? Would you choose the narrow trail, but the easiest to
navigate? You won't be able to get all of your message across, only the general part of it.
Or the pathway where it is harder to explore but would get your mail to get recognized in its full form?
You'll be able to connect with the person fully and converse with them with no blockade holding you
back.

For me, it always depends on the person I'm talking to. The first step here is to identify who the person is
on the other side. Are you willing to go through it, or would you take the easy path? Once you make the
decision, you can start.

The easiest path is just a one-way trail. It's not hard to know where you're going, but it's narrow in which
you can't get all of your messages across.

If you take the hard path, you'll be faced with obstacles. First, there are monsters. They block the doors
for other trails, and they are supposed to scare you. They represent barriers in communication. You won't
be able to get across if you don't make a move and figure out what to do. If you don't want to use your
energy and effort to get to know that person by going through those barriers, I suggest the narrow path.
Sit down and talk with the other person patiently to understand, or trample your way in their space?

Next, there are chests in the labyrinth. But as you look closely, there is no treasure inside. In
communication, they represent a scenario. In which you assume that this is what the person wants or
need. If you don't look closely and observe, you can be led to a dead-end. You should always be patient
and observe the person, before making up an assumption about them that would hurt or offend them.

A labyrinth has complicated and irregular networks of passages or paths in which it is difficult to find
one's way. I compared this to people's way of connecting. Everyone has a different labyrinth; one might
be simple and while the other may be difficult. It could be a person wearing their heart on their sleeves.
Or someone who is paranoid and has trust issues. The reasons may vary, but it's still a maze. In my
model, the boy has a more complicated maze presented to the girl. Three barriers and two empty chests.
The girl has a simpler maze, two monsters, and one empty chest.

My project might not be like the ones you usually see. But it's to create my own, not to make another
example of a communication model.

It's all based on navigating a person's labyrinth, filled with barriers and empty assumptions. You have the
choice to go for it or to take the one in front of you. And even if you have already navigated a person's
path, remember that change is inevitable. A person may change their labyrinth according to their life right
now. Don't be surprised if they suddenly shut themselves off. As long as you are determined and
knowledgeable, a path will open up to you, and you'll be able to connect with anyone.
