Capstone Update #2

Dec 31

I am working on a new video now. Something that I didn’t think about doing
before was focusing more on the tactical/mental side of the sport. The fight game
is not just about physical skills and throwing strikes to hurt people, its also about
being smart. Fighters often study their opponents and take note of certain
moves/tactics they tend to use often. The fighter takes note of this and figures
out a way to counter it. This is called a read. If you watch a professional fight
whether its boxing or martial arts, they always take notes of reads. An example is:
if a fighter often throws a jab and keeps their guard down, the opposing fighter
may expect it, avoid the jab and follow up with a strike. 2 days ago I began work
on a video detailing what I believe the best moments in UFC history where a
fighter picked up on a read from their opponent. This is really fun; I am glad I
decided to do this as well. When I came up with the original idea to do this, I
immediately thought about the best scenarios where I saw this displayed. And
while I used some of them in my footage, I discovered even more that I did not
know about, mainly the Till vs Thompson fight read, where Till realized that
Thompson was doing the same reaction every time Till fainted the left. I will finish
this video pretty soon. Yesterday, I also finished all of the footage for my
beginners guide to striking video. All of the footage is filmed, now I just need to
put them together and edit them.
