REVERSIBLE IMPACT CRUSHER SETTINGS

 ADJUSTMENT OF CRUSHER APRONS
1) Remove the inspection covers located on the both sides of the crusher.
2) Insert the hydraulic hose jacks from the apron adjustment pistons into the second or third
socket from top depending on which apron will be adjusted; see the label on the
hydraulic system.
3) Rotate the control lug on the hand pump to the left.
4) Use the hand pump to move the apron away from the rotor.
5) Remove the coupling that clamps the polyamide shims which are located at the piston
head and prevent the apron from falling down on the rotor in case of any oil leakage.
6) For apron adjustment, bring the rotor in the position shown in the FIGURE.., and make
the necessary adjustment by reciprocating the piston using the hand pump until the
distance between the crusing apron and rotor reaches the desired level.
7) After the distance between the crusing apron and rotor reaches the desired level, insert
sufficient number of polyamide adjusting shims at the back the piston. Following this,
the coupling that clamps the shims shall be inserted.

13
8) Upon completion of adjustment, bring the control lever on the hand pump in the
middle position.

9) The crushing aprons should be adjusted according to the gradation of product desired
to be obtained from the machine. Only the settings of the crushing aprons may not be
sufficient for remaining within the desired grading distribution. The operating speed
of the machine also directly affects the gradation. If the desired gradation cannot be
achieved by adjusting the crushing aprons, the speed of the machine should be
changed. CAUTION: In order to change the machine speed, please consult
with the GURSAN representative.

10) When the desired gradation is achieved, the wooden wedges to be made according to
the dimensions between the crushing aprons and rotor by which you achieved such
gradation will simplify your work during the further adjustments to be made due to
wearing.

SECTION 5

SERVICING AND MAINTENANCE

Machine servicing and maintenance should be performed by trained technical staff.

Use only the GURSAN spare parts.

De-energize the unit before servicing or maintenance.

Make sure that the machine is completely at standstill before opening or

disassembling the safety guards.

5.0. LUBRICATION

Never mix different types of lubricants even if their characteristics are similar.

Lubricate the bearings in amounts specified in the manual. Over applied grease will
cause overheating of the bearing, difficult machine start, and over current drawing during
operation.

15
LUBRICATION OF REVERSIBLE IMPACT CRUSHER
• In lubrication of the bearings of the K62 reversible impact crusher, lithium-soap, ultra
high pressure greases containing ep additive (Namely, sulphide, chlorine or phosphorus
additive) should be used.
• There are bearings bearing the rotor shaft on both sides of the crusher body. In the case
of single shift working, apply 30 grams of grease to each bearing weekly using the
grease nipples.
• Since the bearings are equipped with the labyrinth seals, a small amount of dirty grease
will overflow from the labyrinth covers as grease is applied to the bearings.

5.1. MAINTENANCE OF REVERSIBLE IMPACT CRUSHER

a) OPENING-CLOSING THE UPPER BODY
In order to ease the machine maintenance, the upper body is designed to be openable using
a hydraulic system.

OPENING THE UPPER BODY ;

• Unlock the upper body.
• Insert the hydraulic hose jacks from the body opening pistons into their sockets at the
bottom; see the label on the hydraulic system.
• Rotate the control lug on the hand pump to the right.
• As long as you pump using the hand pump, the body will open backwards. While doing
this, keep an eye on the pressure gauge located on the hydraulic unit; it should normally
remain stable as the pressure increases up to a certain level and body opens. In case of
sticking or trapping, pressure will keep increasing.

16
• There are safety locks on the pistons of machine body against any possible oil
leakage at the lifts while the body is open. Fully open the upper body until the
safety locks are locked.

Do not enter into the machine before the safety locks are fastened.

Do not enter into the machine without fastening the rotor safety locks.

CLOSING THE UPPER BODY ;

• Rotate the control lug on the hand pump to the left.
• By pumping several time using the hand pump, ensure the necessary distance for
easy release of the safety locks.
• Ensure the body to release from the lock by manually lifting the safet locks.
• By slowly pumping the hand pump, ensure that the body is fully closed.
• After the upper body is properly closed, lock it and thoroughly tighten the nuts.

17
b) REPLACEMENT OF HAMMERS

1) Open the upper body of the machine. (See SECTION 5, Item 5.1./A)
2) Open the upper-middle inspection covers of the machine.
3) Bring the blade that you want to replace to the top by rotating the rotor.
4) Fasten the safety locks to the rotor.
5) Rotor shall be locked by passing the safety locks from the hole on the rotor to the hole
on the bearing.

Never disassemble or assemble any hammer without locking the rotor.

6) Remove the wedges at the front end of the hammers using inbus wrench.
Important Note: There are spring seals under the nuts of the inbus bolts fastening the
wedges. When removing, pay attention to the direction and arrangement of those
springs. When you re-fasten the wedges, you should place those springs in such a
manner that their arrangement will be same as it was.
7) Cause the hammers to slightly protrude towards the appropriate side by sliding from the
appropriate one of the side inspection covers.
8) Attach the hammer to an appropriate lifting device and take it out from one side.
9) Disassemble the other hammer by repeating the steps 3 to 7.

Don’t forget to attach the rotor lock during each action.

 In order to assemble the new hammers or turn the hammers, follow the above steps in
reverse order.

18
c) REPLACEMENT OF CRUSHING ARMORS AND UPPER LININGS

The crushing armors and upper linings are attached to the body through the same
system. The armors are attached to the body by passing the cylindirical lugs at the
back of the armors through the holes on the body and using the wedges driven at the
rear-end.
As a precaution against loosening of the wedges, the wedges shall be fastened by
welding a clamp from immediate bottom of the cylindirical lugs at the bacf of the
armors.
During disassembly or assembly of crushing aprons, it can be accessed to the wedges
at the rear of the aprons by opening the covers at the rear of the upper body.

 If all aprons are to be replaced, it may be more practicable to remove and take
all crushing armor aprons out, and replace the armors outside. For this, see Section 5,
Item 5.1 F DIASSEMBLY OF CRUSHING APRONS.

As another useful tip, you may replace the linings of excessively worn parts with
those which are less worn, of the same type.

When you replace the disassembled armors, you must weld the locking clamps
of the wedges. Otherwise, the armors can fall into the machine and cause significant
damage.

19
d) REPLACEMENT OF SIDE LININGS
The side linings are attached to the body by special conehead bolts. Since all side linings
are identical, the linings in the excessively worn parts can be replaced with those in the
less worn parts.
 Another important point to consider is to coat the bolt heads with solid fillet welding if
your material is very abrasive.

When replacing the side linings, firmly tighten the lining bolts, and fasten using
lock-nuts. Otherwise, the linings may fall inside the machine and cause major damages.

e) ROTOR DISASSEMBLY

If rotor disassembly is necessary for any reason, carry out the following actions in the
following order.
1) Loosen and remove the V-belts of the machine.(SECTION 5.1/g Replacement of
Belts)
2) Remove the belt housing.
3) Remove the upper body of the machine.(SECTION 5.1/a Opening-Closing the
Upper Body)
4) Remove the bolts fastening the middle section of the upper body of the machine to
the lower body, and separate the middle section of the upper body from the lower
body.
5) Remove the bolts fastening the bearings to the body.
6) Properly attach the rotor to an appropriate lifting device, and take the rotor out of the
machine using that device.
 For rotor assembly, follow the aforementioned actions in reverse order. 20
f) DISASSEMBLY OF CRUSHING APRONS

In order to disassemble the crushing aprons, take the following actions respectively.
1) Open the upper body. (see SECTION 5, ITEM 5.1/A Opening and closing of upper
body.)
2) Remove the inspection covers at the rear of the upper body.
3) Attach a rope of an appropriate diameter tied to an appropriate lifting device and
hanged down from above to the upper body.
4) By suspending the body, remove the pin which is located at the rear of the upper body
and fastens the upper body to the lower body by sledge-hammering from either side
using a pin of an appropriate diameter (Ø60mmx750mm).
5) Take the upper body out to an appropriate place.
6) Attach a rope of an appropriate diameter tied to an appropriate lifting device and
hanged down from above to the crushing apron by passing it through the apron arms.
7) By suspending the crushing apron, remove the pin attaching the rear piston set to the
crushing apron.
8) Remove the covers of the joints on the both sides where the crushing aprons are
suspended to the body.
9) Remove the rod to which the crushing apron is attached by sledge-hammering from
either side using a pin of an appropriate diameter (Ø 50 mm x 750 mm).
10) Take the crushing apron out to an appropriate place.
11) Repeat the same steps for the other crushing apron to dismantle it.
 Follow the above steps in reverse order in order to assemble the crushing aprons.

21
g) REPLACEMENT OF BELTS
1) Uncover the belt housing,
2) Sufficiently loosen the nuts on 2 tensioning studs that bear the engine mounting,
3) Insert the hydraulic hose jacks from the engine mounting to their place on the top;
see the label on the hydraulic system.
4) Rotate the control lug on the hand pump to the right.
5) By pumping the hand pump, ensure that the engine mounting rises enough that the
belts can easily cut loose from the pulley grooves.
6) Upon replacement of the belts, rotate the control lug on the hand pump to the left.
7) By pumping the hand pump, ensure that the engine mounting lowers enough that
the belts are adequately tightened.
Important Note: Overtightening of the belts may cause unrecoverable damages to the
engine and rotor shaft.
8) Bring the control lug on the hand pump to the middle position.
9) Secure the engine mounting by tightening the nuts on two studs that bear the engine
mounting.
10) Close the housing covers.
