MACHINE USE

4.0. CERTAIN INSPECTIONS TO BE MADE BEFORE STARTING THE MACHINE

CAUTION ! : Inspections should be made by technical staff.

CAUTION ! : De-energize the unit before making any adjustment or removing the
safety covers, or uncovering the terminal boxes.

1) Apply grease to the screen bearings until grease spills from the labyrinths. (PICTURE 1)

2) Remove the protective covers on both sides of the screen, and check the adjustment of the
weights. The weights on the both side should be adjusted in the same direction.(PICTURE 2)

3) Check the tightness of the leg mounting bolts that connect the engine to the carrier plate.

4) Check the vibration system of the machine if it rotates in the correct direction. The vibration
shaft should rotate clockwise when we look at the screen with discharge on our right side
and feeding on our left side.

To check this;

• Wear safety glasses,

• Energize the engine for a short time.

• If the direction of rotation should be changed, replace the cable terminals in the terminal
box.

5) Re-attach the weight covers, thoroughly tighten the bolts, and fasten to the lock nuts.

15
6) Check if the current from each phase exceeds the label values of the engine
using a clamp meter via the power cable feeding the machine. (Picture 3)

IMPORTANT : Engine mounting should be triangulated bracing. Starting should

be done directly with the triangulated bracing.

7) The screen body may contact the joint units (such as the front chute, lower
chute, overvibration dampers, etc.) while the machine is engaged and
disengaged. But it must not hit anywhere during continuous operation.

8) Check the tightening of the screen wires. (See Chapter 5, Article 5.1/a
Replacement of screen wires)

4.1. MACHINE SETTINGS

CAUTION ! : The machine settings should be adjusted by technical staff.

CAUTION ! : De-energize the unit before making any adjustment or

removing the safety covers.

4.1.a. ADJUSTMENT OF VIBRATION AMPLITUDE

• Vibration amplitude of the screen shall be made from the eccentric weight
adjustments on the both upper sides of the screen.

16
• Weight adjustments (thus, the amplitude adjustmentsı) vary according to the
specific gravity and size of material fed to the screen and the mesh size of the
screen wires. When adjusting the amplitude, it should be taken into consideration
that the adjustment should be increased in such a manner that the material will not
pile up on the screen. A weight adjustment increased more than adequate will
increase the energy consumption, and also cause the screen to be worn early.

For adjusting the weights:

1) Remove the covers of the weights..(PICTURE 4)

2) Remove the adjustment fixing bolt and re-tighten it as yor desire to increase or
decrease. (PICTURES 5, 6)

3) Pay attention to rotate the weight adjustments on both sides in the same direction
according to the screen and same amount. (PICTURE 7 )

4) Re-assemble the covers, and thoroughly tighten their bolts.

SECTION 5

SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE

• Service and maintenance for the machine should be performed exclusively by the
trained technical staff.

• Use the GURSAN spare parts only.

• De-energize the unit before any service or maintenance work.

17
5.0 LUBRICATION

• Never mix various types of grease even they share similar characteristics.

• Prolonged contacted with used oils may cause dermatological diseases, there fore
use gloves in order to prevent the oil from contancting the skin.

• In lubrication of the bearings of the E04B vibrating screen, lithium-soap, ultra high
pressure greases containing ep additive (Namely, sulphide, chlorine or phosphorus
additive) should be used.

• Using a pump, apply grease to both bearings at the beginning of each shift until
some grease comes out of the labyrinths.(PICTURE 8)

18
5.1. SCREEN MAINTENANCE

5.1.a. REPLACEMENT OF SCREEN WIRES

Follow the order given below to replace the screen wires.

1) Unscrew the upper chute, properly attach the upper chute to an appropriate lifting device, and take
the upper chute out of the machine using that device.

2) Loosen the tension bolts of the wire that you want to replace, which are next to the screen. Thus,
remove the tension profiles that stretch the screen wires from inside.

3) From the opened front end, two employees should enter between the shelves, one from lower side
and other from upper side of the screen that you want to desire, and remove the bolts fastening the
screen wire to the intermediate supporting girders.

4) Take the released screen wire out from behind the screen as well as all these removed pieces.

5) Before installing the new screen, the rubber seals on the intermediate supporting girders should be
inspected, and those which are crushed not to function should be replaced, and the deficients
should be completed.

6) The new screen wire should be installed by following this procedure (except for the item 5) in the
reverse order.

• The screen wires shall be tensioned by tightening the bolts, which are found outside of the screen
body, of the custom-engineered sheet metals. Tightness of the wires should be uniform all over the
screen.

• If the screen wire is not adequately tensioned, its life will shorten, and also its efficiency will
decrease.

• Whether the newly installed screen wire tends to extend or not shall be determined by inspection at
the end of the first working day. Majority of extension occurs in this first day, and this can be
prevented by tightening the tension bolts.

• Do not tension the screen wires more than necessary. Excess tension may cause fractures and
ruptures. Following the first working week, the tightness of the screen wires should be19
inspected at
least once a week.
