Star SU offers a wide range of
master gears to determine the accu-
racy of manufactured gears as well
as setting masters to adjust your
checking equipment for the following
types of gears:

„ Spur gears with or without profile

and flank corrections
„ Helical gears with or without
profile and flank corrections
„ Internal gears

Material
Star SU master gears are manufac-
tured in either high speed or
bearing steel. The choice of steel
obviously depends on your individual
needs and requirements but the fol-
lowing standard material is always
readily available:
Coating
Master gears produced in high
speed steel may be coated.
Master gear produced in bearing
steel should not be coated because
the high temperatures involved in
coating would cause excessive
deformation and make the master
gear less accurate.

Quality
Master gears are fully tested on CNC
checking equipment and are delivered
with an inspection certificate.
Star SU produces master gears in
classes from 2 up to 6 to DIN 3962,
ISO 1328-1995, AGMA and BS stan-
dards.

gear technology and to help solve
technical problems with expert advi-
ce and support.

Geometry
Star SU produces master gears
according to the customer drawing. If
no drawing is available the master
gear geometry is according to DIN
3970.
Illustrated at the bottom right are
some examples of Star SU master
gears.

with their relative reference number
and geometrical data.
