ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWING

MODULE 6 | MS. PATRICIA R. CABADDU

What is an
orthographic
drawing?
An orthographic
drawing or
orthographic
3 DIMENSIONAL projection is a
representation
of a three-
dimensional-
object using
several two-
dimensional
planes.
2 DIMENSIONAL/ ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTION
Orthographic drawings are
important for artists to better
see the objects you’re drawing in
Why Are a 3D space.
Orthographic
Drawings Not only it helps you do this, but
Important? it also allows other people that
are interested in drawing that
object, know all the specifics of
the object in ANY angle.
Think of it like a blueprint for the
object you’re drawing!
Why Are
Orthographic
Drawings Or imagine you’re trying to describe a
Important? beautiful table to someone. It’s easier if
you just take a few photos from each
angle and show it to them right? That
would be something close to an
orthographic projection.
Orthographic Drawing
And Isometric Drawing
SIDE Differences
◦ An isometric drawing is a three-
dimensional representation of
that same object.

◦ An orthographic drawing is
a two-dimensional
FRONT representation of an object, with
all the views represented in it.

How to Draw an Orthographic Projection?
In an actual orthographic projection, all
of the views are included on the same
page. Top View

corner of the page.
2. The top view is in the upper left Front

3. The right-side view is in the lower left
