This happened to one of my friends.

She is a missionary, she travels to several countries

offering her service as a volunteer to do social work among the poorest.

This time she had to travel to Mexico, I remembered she was super happy because it was her
first time in Mexico and it was also one of her dreams to visit that country. She was in Mexico
working for about 6 months in a shelter for the elderly. One day, my friend finished feeding an
old woman and was on her way to the kitchen to leave the Dirty plates. It happened that the
cook from the kitchen realized that my friend was about to step on the peel of a banana that
an old woman had accidentally thrown on the ground, my friend was going to fall if she
stepped on it. So, before that happened, the lady in the kitchen shouted loudly "aguas , aguas"
which for a Mexican means be careful. My friend, since it was her firt time in mexico she didn’t
know the meaning of that phrase. She thought that the pipe had broken and the place was
being flooded. My friend, who was walking, stood up and began to take the elderly to the
patio, when the cook realized that she hadn’t understood her, she approached her and
explained the meaning of that phrase. When the cook finished explaining the meaning, my
friend felt very embarrassed by what had happened, but instead of getting angry, the lady
began to laugh because she thought it was super funny. Since then, my friend began to search
for the meaning of Mexican phrases that she didn’t know.

That was a very funny experience for her but at the same time very embarrassing situation,
every time she remembers it she laughs.
