Perineal Care (Sterile Technique)

Perineal care is the cleansing of the external genitalia and the anal area.

Purposes:

1. Prevents infection in the perineal area


2. Remove secretions
3. Promote healing
4. Provide comfort

Equipments:

1. Working gloves
2. Bath blanket
3. Washcloth
4. Rubber sheet or waterproof underpad
5. Sterile cleansing solution in a sterile can
6. Sterile water in a sterile flushing can
7. Sterile working forceps
8. Sterile pick – up forceps
9. Bath towel
10.Bedpan/Urinal
11.Basin
12.Flushing Can
