People have the right to request any and all of the data that is stored about them through a data
request as per the GDPR; they also have the right to be told when their data is being collected and
what exactly is being collected

Challenge:

No, they would not be allowed to sell because it goes against the right to prevent direct marketing.
Also, they shouldn’t share your data without your permission.

 For example phones, TVs and computers

 They don’t want it in their country NIMBY

 Recycle – don’t keep old devices in drawers

 Less strict rules – lax regulations – lack of enforcement


 Money – there isn’t much opportunity to make money
 It’s really cheap to send stuff there

 Richer people / richer countries


 Manufacturers create fragile equipment – more money in replacements
 Rules about repairs

 Melting the plastics to get to the metal – if they didn’t have this way of making money
then what might happen?
 Affects the environment – contamination – water, the soil – that stops things growing and
living in the future.
