Problem – corruption

It is not easy to pin point and list down the social problems of the Philippines,
because it is far reaching and pervasive. The list is seemingly endless and the
problems seem to be growing every day. It is like a snowball that keeps getting
bigger and bigger.

Corruption is another social problem facing the Philippines. This manifest itself in
a number of ways, but one of the most visible is the discrepancy between the
wealthy and the poor. The rich are able to use their money and influence to get
ahead, while the poor are left behind. This leads to increased tension and conflict
as well as the feelings of hopelessness and despair among those who feel they will
never be able to improve their lot in life. Additionally, corruption often leads to a
lock of trust in government and institution, as well as decreased efficiency and
effectiveness.
