Title: A figure who reminded me of someone who was I

Wandering through a boisterous square,

The sun is pointing at someone,

A cheerful fellow, dashing with the air

Popped inside my head, was a character.

That individual, which was I

What I meant, was the former one

A free-swinging person, even shy

Child that eye would always glimmer.

Freedom which she always had,

Carefree but thought what others felt

My present self if you asked?

Blink of an eye, everything changed.

From backpacks I carry, to burden,

Being carefree means being careless,

My parent’s hair will come to whiten,

Everything now is harder than math tests.

But now if my younger self would see,

All I would receive are compliments.

Like “Woah! Really?! You got a degree”

A new lot of things worth seeking out.

A view she has not seen before,

A view myself has coming to see.

Today is different anymore

Should become more courageous than her.

And today, I will show my resolve

To show her tomorrow is better.

I will continue on to evolve

In a way, that her heart will flutter.

Now, I show my gratitude to her

“Thank you for trusting me” is what I say.

For here, I shall bid farewell to -er-

Self of yore, I should move forward by now.
