Reflection
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from completing this field
experience?
I am well acquainted with the use of the APEX credit recovery program. I typically cover the science summers school and have used the
APEX often. I chose not to teach summer school this year because I was starting this program. I worked with a colleague doing Summer
School Credit recovery for the first time. They were unfamiliar with APEX. I provided guidance for enrollment of students who came and how
to set up course content and open unit assignments. We walked through several tools that showed individual progress and grades for
individual assignments, what percent of the course is complete, and how to reset lessons tasks that students did poorly on, and whole class
gradebook to track progress and participation. What did I learn? Working and collaborating with colleagues is what I do. Working with
people unfamiliar with a program or digital tool when I have the know how is easy. I am always willing to work with my colleagues. I
learned how to be a better technology coach.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs,
enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected above. Use the language of the PSC
standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)

Knowledge – In order to utilize the online learning platform for students to retake attain credit for the course, I had to train colleague on various
component of the online credit recovery program our school with students who did not successfully complete a regular course. As a technology
coach, I must collaborate with my colleagues to develop or analyze instruction using technology that provides differentiated instruction and meets the
different learning styles and levels of the students.

Skills – Communication, collaboration, and troubleshooting are all skills necessary to effectively coach individuals in using specific programs.
Coaching required using prior or current knowledge about all aspects of a program for which I was to provide assistance for use.

Dispositions – In order to be an affective coach, I need to be able to communicate clearly and affectively. Coaching requires a willingness to
provide any assistance needed to individuals who learning a new program.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be
assessed?
Troubleshooting technology issues will increase use of technology tools as it will help raise the confidence level in teachers. Helping a
colleague learn to use new tools or programs is an essential part of being a coach. We all are learning from each other. By providing the
coaching assistance, teachers might be more willing to try using other various technologies within the lessons, and won’t be afraid to seek help
others with more experience colleague. Effective coaching finds solutions or ways to process information when troubleshooting a problem.
