ESSAY- WHICH CAUSES OF CAR ACCIDENTS SHOULD THE SAFETY CAMPAIGN FOCUS ON

Nowadays, it is a fact that car accidents happen more frequently, and not because of the
unreliability of the vehicles, but because of the drivers’ unawareness and carelessness. Thus, it is the
government’s duty to inform people about the risks irresponsible driving involves, so that serious
accidents could be prevented.

Using mobile phones while being on the road is definitely a major cause of some serious
accidents. Even if drivers might receive fines or lose their license, they are negligent, often ignore the
law and the policemen’s warnings, and lose their concentration because of using their phones.
However, they need to realise that focusing on safe driving should be their first responsibility.

Inexperienced or young drivers are generally blamed for causing a large percentage of
severe accidents. Their lack of experience in handling the vehicle and the recklessness characteristic
of age is the main reasons why plenty of people believe that a teenager is more likely to break the
speed limit or get distracted and, as a consequence, generate an accident. However, the elderly can
be as dangerous as the youth. They could, as well, cause an accident due to some health problems,
such as poor eyesight or hearing.

To conclude, in my point of view, the safety campaign should focus more on mobile phones
use, as this is the mistake people of all ages tend to make. The use of mobile phones cannot be
stopped, but at least people should be urged to abandon them while driving.
