THEME :

1.0 Introduction
- English Language teaching consists of few skills such as speaking, reading, writing,
grammar and also listening.
- As for this task, it was developed for the English Language focusing on listening skills.
- This task is made for the form 2 student by using the Kurikulum Standard Sekolah
Menengah (KSSM) and the Dokumen Standard Kurikulum Dan Pentaksiran (DSKP).
- Scheme of Work (SOW) for form 5 students is also being used simultaneously with the
KSSM and DSKP.
- Common European Framework of References (CEFR) is being used to determine
students' level of proficiency.

1.1 Objectives
- Understand meaning in a variety of familiar contexts.
- Use appropriate listening strategies in a variety of contexts.
- Recognise features of spoken genres on familiar topics.

2.0 Pre-Listening Task

2.1 Objectives
- guess the meaning of unfamiliar words from clues provided by other words and by
context on a wide range of familiar topics and some unfamiliar topics
- recognise with little or no support typical features at words, sentence, and text levels of a
range of scope genres

2.2 Rationale
- In this section, activities could be done to test student's skills at the beginning of the
exams or exercises on listening material

2.3 Method
Step 1: teachers will talk about one topic in general in the beginning of the class
Step 2: teachers will give instruction to the student on what activities will be done for the day's
lesson
Step 3: teachers will distribute the learning material for the day to every student

3.0 While-Listening Task

3,1 Objectives
- understand independently the main ideas in extended texts on a wide range of familiar
topics and some unfamiliar topics
- understand independently specific information and details in extended texts on a wide
range of familiar topics and some unfamiliar topics

3.2 Rationale
- In this section, teachers could observe how the student manage the information they
heard from the recording into the material they got within the allocated time

3.3 Method
Step 1: teachers will play the recording by section
Step 2: each recording will be played twice
Step 3: time will be allocated for students to answer the question in the material given while
listening to the recording

4.0 Post-Listening Task

4.1 Objectives
- recognise independently attitudes or opinions in extended texts on a wide range of
familiar topics and some unfamiliar topics
- understand independently longer more complex narratives on a wide range of familiar
and unfamiliar topics
4.2 Rationale
- In this section, students will be taught on how to make sure they put the information
needed from the recording they heard into the material given to them
- cross-checking are done at this phase
- student's reflection on this activities

4.3 Method
Step 1: students were told to do a crosscheck
Step 2: a discussion were held among the teacher and the students
Step 3: students reflections on the day's lesson

5.0 Conclusion
- To conclude, KSSM, DSKP and SOW should be used simultaneously in any task
development.
- These guidelines are used to ensure the material given to the secondary school within
their syllabus and capability accordingly.
- So that, by the end of teaching, students will be able to accomplish the task for the day
- Teachers will be able to observe and detect their students' level of proficiency by the end
of the class.
- Student's level of proficiency will then be determined using the CEFR
