Vasily Ivanovich Bazhenov was born in 1737 and died in 1799.


In Russia of the 18th century, architecture was the most prosperous and Bazhenov
was one of the main architects of that time. He studied in France and Italy.
When he returned to Moscow, he found a job. He was reconstruct the Kremlin. This
project was not finished. Catherine ordered to stop the work, because there was no
money.
Bazhenov has been building Tsaritsyno for more than ten years. But the Empress
didn't like it, she ordered to rebuild Tsaritsyno.

Matvey Fedorovich Kazakov was a Russian neoclassical architect. He was the most
famous architect during the reign of Catherine II.
Kazakov built many residences, two royal palaces, two hospitals, Moscow University
and Senate Palace. Kazakov was born in Moscow in 1738 and died in 1812 in Ryazan.
When he was twelve, he entered the Dmitry Ukhtomsky Architectural College, where he
worked and studied. Until 1812, he formed the city in the style of classicism,
which later burned down in a fire.

Franz Osipovich Schechtel was born in 1859 in St. Petersburg. He has not completed
his architectural education. When he was young, he was an artist and book designer.
He designed many residences, and also designed the Yaroslavl railway station in
Moscow. His best work was the Ryabushinsky residence built in the period 1900-1902.
