EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This project Is all about Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL). Oil & Gas
Development Company Limited (OGDCL) is the largest Exploration & Production (E&P)
Company in Pakistan, listed on all three stock Exchanges of Pakistan as well as on the
LondonStock Exchange. OGDCL was initially created under an Ordinance in 1961, as a Public
Sector Corporation and was converted from a statutory Corporation into a Public Limited
Company w.e.f October 23, 1997. Currently Government of Pakistan is holding 74.97% of total
equity inthe Company.

OGDCL is the largest exploration & Production (E&P) company of Pakistan with its principal
objective to expand and accelerate on shore exploration and development activities and
contingent upon these activities, undertake careful selected offshore and international
development activities to augment its oil and gas resources.

OGDCL’s under a forward-looking management foresees the organization as not only the leading
E&P Company of the country, but also as a company known for its people, partnerships and
performance in the region. The Company continued with its strategies of accelerating oil and gas
exploration, adding to its reserves, early development of newly discovered fields and strengthening
of its oil and gas production base in order to enhance indigenous production of the country and
create value for its shareholders.

During the last 5 decades, the Corporation has grown into a technically feasible and commercially
viable organization. It has developed a highly qualified pool of professionals who can undertake
and supervise almost all phases of oil and gas exploration and production starting from preliminary
geological surveys and culminating in the operation of oil and gas processing plants.

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited is a Pakistani multinational company further detail as

1.1 BRIEF HISTORY


Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) is the largest Exploration & Production
(E&P) Company in Pakistan, listed on all three stock Exchanges of Pakistan as well as on the
London Stock Exchange. OGDCL was initially created under an Ordinance in 1961, as a Public
Sector Corporation and was converted from a statutory Corporation into a Public Limited
Company w.e.f October 23,1997. Currently Government of Pakistan is holding 74.97% of total
equity in the Company.

OGDCL is the largest exploration & Production (E&P) company of Pakistan with its principal
objective to expand and accelerate onshore exploration and development activities and
contingent upon these activities, undertake careful selected offshore and international
development activities to augment its oil and gas resources.

the Company has working interest in 63 concessions, holding the largest exploration
acreage of 115,037 Sq. Km. Our exploration licences portfolio is spread across all the
four provinces of the Country with 10 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 15 in Punjab, 12
in Sindh and 24 in Balochistan with 2 blocks in the offshore areas of Pakistan. Since
inception to July 31, 2015 OGDCL has drilled a total of 708 wells (304 exploratory, 39
appraisal and 365 development wells). The Company has made 104 oil and gas
discoveries in all four provinces of the country.
OGDCL is pursuing an aggressive production enhancement strategy involving short term
and medium term plans to augment oil and gas production from its own and operated JV
fields. The Company has a portfolio of 47 producing fields which are 100% owned and

operated.

The Company has the largest hydrocarbon reserves in Pakistan. Out of the total country's
oil and gas reserves, the Company holds 57% oil and 42% of gas reserves.

1.2 INTRODUCTION

Oiland Gas Development Company Limited,commonly known as OGDCL is a Pakistani oil and
gas company. It has a primary listing on the Pakistan Stock Exchange, and secondary listing on
the London Stock Exchange. Established in1961 by the Government of Pakistan,it was turned
into a public listed company on 23 October 1997. Today it is involved in exploring, drilling,
refining and selling oil and gas in Pakistan. It is based on Jinnah Avenue, Blue Area in
Islamabad.

Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) being the largest Exploration &
Production Company of Pakistan in public sector has inked an agreement with Pakistan State Oil
(PSO) for Supply of 25 to 30 million liters annually High Speed Diesel (HSD) to meet its
operational requirements at Fields, Plants and Drilling Rigs.

1.8 OBJECTIVES OF OIL AND GAS DEVELOPMENT COMPANY


The main objectives of the Corporation are:-

To plan, organize and implement programs of exploration of development of oil and gas
resources.

To carryout geological,geophysical and other surveys for the exploration of oil and gas.

To carryout drilling and other prospecting operations to prove and estimate the reserves of oil and
gas.

To produce, refine and sale oil and gas

To perform other functions as the Federal Government may from time to time assign to the
Corporation.

1.9 PROJECTS OF OGDCL
KPD - TAY Compression
KPD-TAY integrated field is located in Tando Jam, Hyderabad, Sindh province .KPD is
100% owned by OGDCL, while TAY has working interest Owners/ Joint Venture partners
consisting share of OGDCL 77.5% and GHPL 22.5%. To cater the pressure depletion, KPD-
TAY Compression Project has been initiated.

Dakhni Compression
Dakhni Gas Field is 100% OGDCL owned located in Jand, District Attock, Punjab. In order
to cater the pressure depletion,Dakhni Compression Project has been initiated....

Uch CompressionProject
Uch gas field is located in District Deara Murad Jamali, Balochistan. In order to cater the
pressure depletion and exploit the maximum potential of field, UCH Compression Project has
been initiated. The front endraw gas compression facilities having a total capacity of 460 MMscf
draw gas will be installed.

Qadirpur Compression Project


Qadirpur gas field located in District Ghotki Sindh is a joint venture of OGDCL (75%),
PPL(7%), KUFPEC (8.5%), PKPEL 2(4.75%). OGDCL is serving as the operator. The Qadirpur
Compression Projects is actually upgradation of the existing compression system installed
inorder to cater the further pressure depletion of field to attain maximum recovery. The projec
tincludes upgradation of existing gas turbine and replacement of gas compressors to cater
280Mmsofd gas.

Nashpa Compression Project


Nashpa field located in Karak District of KPK province, is a joint venture of OGDCL
(56.45%), PPL (28.55%), and GHPL (15%), OGDCL serving as the operator.Nashpa Gas
Processing &LPG Extraction Plant has a daily production capacity of 90 MMscfd sales gas,
350Mton LPG and 18000 bbl oil. In order to cater the pressure depletion and exploit the
maximum potential of field, Nashpa Compression Project was initiated. Nashpa Compression has
been installed and commissioned successfully in November , 2020.

2.5 MAIN DEPARTMENTS

 PRODUCTION

OGDCL being the leading national E&P Company maintains a balanced portfolio of exploratory
assets in the established and unexplored areas. In line with its exploration-led growth strategy,
OGDCL has acquired in-house state-of-the-art technology along with a qualified team of
professionals to exploit potential exploration targets with minimized risks.

Exploration Department is well versed with adopting advanced exploration technology, with
seismic as the main sub-surface imaging technique for exploration of hydrocarbons.

Drilling Operations and Services Department

Drilling Operations and Services department undertakes operations based on completion of


exploratory/appraisal and development wells. The department is a unique component of integrated
expertise, infrastructure, equipment, tools & technology.

Drilling Operations department designs wells, project manuals and supervise drilling activities,
which includes execution, supervision and evaluation of drilling operations and services. In order to
carry out operation smoothly, the department ensures availability of material, tools and equipment
and ensures efficient and effective shifting and, transportation of drilling rigs through logistic bases
to the desired location. Drilling Services department ensures provision of in-house quality drilling
fluids services, well cementation and stimulation services The department has a team of technically
sound, highly experienced, skilled and dedicated professionals consisting of graduate engineers,
chemists and Reservoir Management Department technicians.

Reservoir Management Department

Reservoir management Department serves as a bridge between Exploration and Production


domains of the company. The department was established in 1988 with an objective to evolve an
oil and gas discovery into a full-fledged producing field by planning/designing, monitoring and
managing the development wells to optimize hydrocarbon recovery rates and minimize the capital

investments and operating cost. Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) played an
important role in the formulation and training of professionals of this department.

The finished petroleum products namely natural gas, crude, LPG and sulphur undergo multiple
processing stages to get separated from undesired constituents and impurities of throughput coming
from producing wells before these can be marketed to clients in downstream petroleum sector. In
OGDCL this indispensable role is performed by Process and Plants Department.

Process and Plants Department works at the Company’s front end delivering uninterrupted supply
of petroleum products to its clients with right specifications as stipulated with buyers. Industry’s
best operation and maintenance practices along with high standards of HSEQ are utilized at
processing facilities of the department to deliver the end products to its clients. The department also
undertakes plant relocation, refurbishment and capacity enhancement projects in line with the
changing production scenarios to deliver for the Company and its stake holders. 

Production

OGDCL being the flagship carrier of E&P sector in Pakistan is focused on intensifying field

development activities, completion of ongoing development projects and utilization of latest

production techniques to augment oil and gas production volumes from its owned and operated

joint venture fields. Pursuit to production optimization led the Company to achieve more than

50,000 barrels daily gross crude oil production.

Production department constantly endeavors to augment production levels to reach new heights

by setting up of aggressive targets, enduring commitment by its professionals and applying latest

Improved / Enhanced Oil Recovery (I/EOR) techniques, pursuing industry best practices

3. REFLECTIVE JOURNAL ENTRIES FOR PROJECT

3.1 WEEK 1 (From Dec 23 to Dec 28 2021)

It was the first day at OGDCL Pirkoh Gas field , first of all I met with Field manager to discuss
my project he is a great personality he asked me to meet Mr Ali Raza he is my supervisor , he
introduced me his staff members and officers working at different position I learned lot of
knowledge and information that will help me to complete my project.

3.2 WEEK 2 (From Dec 29 to jan 3 2022)

It was the second week of my project and I visit OGDCL Pirkoh Gas field I visited different
department and like Administration Department,workshops and I also visited different
wells ,such that well no 1,4,41,25,28. I also visited different Rigs working at OGDCL Pirkoh Gas
field.

3.3 WEEK3 (From jan 4 to jan 9 2022)

It is the third week of my project. Visited different production and operational areas of OGDCL
Pirkoh Gas field I also visited compressor power plant of OGDCL. And different working areas
of powerplant.

3.4 WEEK4 (From jan 10 to jan 16)

It was the last week of my project Ivisited accounts department and other financial department
like revenue department,oil pumps and wells,rigs.

OGDCL is a Pakistan oil and gas company and I have connected with this organization in pirkoh
Gas field District Dera Bugti about 4 weeks for purpose of my project assigned to me for this
purpose I have meet different staff of organization for collect information.each and every
employees and officer behave very well with me and all the staff and officer were cooperative
and there friendly working environment provided by ogdcl employees iam very thankful to ogdcl
employees and officers for completion of my project for their respect and love.

7. CONCLUSION
OGDCL is Pakistani multinational Gas and oil corporation.Works it's operation in all provinces
in Pakistan it has more than 50 Operated Oil & Gas fields, geographically distributed all across
the country; OGDCL has 18 Oil and Gas processing plants. It has more than 11000 employees
are working with the organization.

Company can improve it's productivity and revenue by improve the condition of well and
rigs.Company can also also improve it's productivity by taking steps in every gas and oil fields
in which necessary work is required.
