Identification of Training Needs
Training needs can be identified from the following:

a. Under performance by subordinates, evidenced by low output,


lack of initiative, bad decisions or general incompetence,
b. The acquisition of new and unfamiliar equipment or the
introduction of new working methods,
c. Perusal of subordinates job descriptions to identify gaps
between what they are doing and what they should be doing,
d. Analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the organisation

For identifying training needs, three types of analysis is useful:

1. Organizational analysis
2. Task analysis
3. Manpower analysis
