The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon (2-13)
Chapter 2
● What, if anything, do you find unusual about Christopher’s story of finding
the dog? Why?
Not really, because it didn’t feel like he did anything but was just walking one
day and finds a dead dog.
Chapter 3
● What other significant traits do you see in Christopher’s character?
Cool guy, menacing, “what’s going on” face, scared or worried, and dizzy.
I think he doesn’t understand them because he hasn’t felt that way before and when
he sees other doing expressing it, he asks them what they’re doing.
Chapter 5
● Why does Christopher like dogs? How do you think he feels about people?
Christopher likes dogs because they’re have four emotion which means they are
really easy to understand and that they’re loyal.
Not much surprises me about his reaction because I believed it wasn’t his fault or his
dog so he doesn’t need to worry much.
Chapter 7
● Why does Christopher like murder mystery novels?
● Why did Siobhan ask Christopher not to express his opinion of Steve to his
mother?
Discussion and reflection questions (1)
Because Christopher’s mother would feel bad that Christopher compared Steve to a
dog.
Chapter 11
● What do Christopher’s responses to the police officer’s questions show about
the way he interacts with other people?
Chapter 13
● Why doesn’t Christopher like jokes?
He doesn’t like them because he just can’t figure out what they mean at all.
REFLECTION (1)
Underneath this box, write a brief reflection on the first few pages.
What is your impression of Christopher?
What behaviour do you find unusual?
What behaviour can you identify with?
What makes you want to read on?
What do you notice about the structure of the
chapters?
How do they alternate?
My impression is Christopher is that he is a very focus person and thinks even about
the little detail. What is unusual about him is that he doesn’t understand some
emotion and also jokes. I can identify that he is a very unusual person. I want to read
on because I want to know why did that happen to the dog. The chapters are in
prime numbers.
