The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

Please answer the following questions.

1. Our narrator, Christopher, is a 15-year-old boy. He is a bit different from others his age
because he has Asperger’s Syndrome. What is Asperger’s Syndrome? How does it show
through Christopher’s narration? Try to think of two examples.

2. Now that you know more about Christopher and his condition, how do you feel about the
way in which adults around him behave (such as his neighbour, Mrs. Shear, and the
policeman)?

3. How many awards did this novel win? Why do you think that might be the case?

4. Do you agree or disagree with what Christopher thinks about meaning behind names?
Does your name have a meaning behind it (and do you have more than one name—and
thus more than one meaning)? Do you like that your name has a meaning behind it, or do
you think, like Christopher, that your name should somehow mean only you?

5. Who do you think killed the dog? What would you do if you were in Christopher’s place
and found your neighbour’s dog like that?
