EV100 Campaign = Maharashtra became first State in the country to join hands with

Climate Group’s EV100 campaign + Climate Group is an international non-profit which

act as a bridge between private companies and the State government to ease the process

of shifting their fleets to EVs + Campaign aims to make electric transport the new normal

by 2030 by encouraging companies to switch from vehicles running on fossil fuels to EVs

and install charging infrastructure + As per Climate Group and SYSTEMIQ research’s

Fleets First study, the majority of EVs today are privately-owned passenger vehicles,

while only 11% are part of fleets + The EV100 partnership aims to build a robust demand

for EVs that can enable key linkages for the vibrant business community and EV100 aims

to drive 100% fleet transition by 2030.

 SUJAL Mission = Puri (Odisha) has become the first city in the country to have ‘drink

from tap’ facility on 24- hour basis under the Sujal Mission + Sujal Mission was launched

by Odisha in 2020 to ensure quality tapped drinking water in more than 15 urban areas +

It includes 24/7 helpline centre with interactive Voice Response System for grievance

redressal, and a mobile water testing laboratory + No metropolitan city in India has such

facility yet.

 Project Changathi = Implemented by the Kerala State Literacy Mission + this is a

literacy scheme targeted at migrant children for them to learn Malayalam.

 Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme for DISCOMs = Recently, the Cabinet

Committee on Economic Affairs has approved a Reforms-based and Results-linked,

Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme + It aims to improve the operational efficiencies

and financial sustainability of discoms (excluding Private Sector DISCOMs) + It will

provide conditional financial assistance to strengthen the supply infrastructure of discoms

(power distribution companies) + All the existing power sector reforms schemes such as

Integrated Power Development Scheme, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, and

Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana will be merged into this umbrella program +

The scheme will be available till 2025-26


 National Mission for Justice Delivery and Legal Reforms = centrally sponsored

scheme + launched in 1993-94 to augment state resources and develop infrastructural

facilities for subordinate judiciary such as, Court buildings, Digital Computer Rooms etc

+ The upgraded “Nyaya Vikas-2.0” web portal and mobile application is used for

monitoring physical and financial progress of the scheme + Cabinet also approved Rs 50

crore for Gram Nyayalayas infrastructure, established under the Gram Nyayalayas Act,

2008 for speedy and easy access to the justice system + extended for 5 years recently for

implementation of Gram Nyayalayas Scheme as a part of National Mission for Justice

Delivery and Legal Reforms

 Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) = Set-up by University Grants Commission (UGC) +

students will be given multiple entry and exit options + enables students to leave a degree

or course and get a corresponding certification and rejoin studies after a certain time and

be able to start from where they had left + will also provide students with the flexibility to

move between institutes while pursuing one degree or leave a course + it will keep

records of the academic credits of a student + It will not accept any credit course

document directly from students for any course they might be pursuing, but only from

higher education institutes, who will have to make deposits in students’ accounts.

 All India Quota (AIQ) Scheme for Medical Courses = + AIQ scheme was introduced

in 1986 for domicile-free, merit-based opportunities to students from any state to study in

a good medical college in any other state + It comprises 15% of UG seats and 50% of PG

seats in government medical colleges + Recently, Union Health Ministry has announced

27% reservation for OBCs and 10% quota for EWS in AIQ scheme for undergraduate

(UG) and postgraduate (PG)state-run Medical and Dental colleges + Initially, there was

no reservation in the AIQ scheme up to 2007. In 2007, reservation for SCs (15% of AIQ

seats) and STs (7.5% of AIQ seats) was made under the scheme.

3) INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

 COVAX Alliance Program = Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) + global

initiative aimed at equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines + led by Global Alliance for

Vaccines and Immunizations (GAVI), World Health Organization (WHO), Coalition for
Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) etc. + to vaccinate roughly 20% of population

in 92 middle and lower-income nations that cannot afford to pay + Ghana became first

country to receive vaccine under it.

 Africa Open Deal Initiative = Africa Open Deal (Data for The Environment, Agriculture

and Land) Initiative has made Africa the first continent to complete the collection of
