In Fief you win with 3VP; 4VP if in an alliance. VP come from each Fief you have plus 1 VP for each of the
Pope and King. So it’s later in the game and someone appears to be heading for the win; what do you do?

• Kill off the King or Pope: each is a VP

• Boot a player out of one of their Fiefs: each Fief held is a VP

• To take away a VP for a Fief you must capture the Fortified City that is created when the Fief 1st formed
 Fortified Cities create an Attacker Penalty of -2 dice in your roll meaning you have to bring a LOT of
troops to bear ≥ 13 points and/or Joan d’Arc who gives a +1 die to your rolls So what to do?
 A Secret Passage card nullifies the Fort’s penalty leaving you to just deal with the garrison
 Avoid immediate combat (allowable when the defenders are in the Stronghold/Fort) and set up a
Siege by adding 1 die Siege Engine. The following turn, the Siege Engine cancels one of the 2 die
penalty. It you continue to the 2nd round of Siege, the penalty is nullified entirely…
 Keep in mind that an attacker has sole right to terminate combat if the defender holes up in a
Stronghold or Fortified city. They must sortie to force combat losing the attack penalty as well.
 The besieged are not allowed to add new levies (but can add a new Lord) but may move units in
from an adjacent village

• Killing a King or Pope: alternatives are limited in both scope and chance of success:
 Plague forces a 50/50 risk of each Lord in a Bishopric to die BUT Plague is randomly assigned
 If the player on the verge of winning has their Lord/King or Lord/Pope in a village easily attacked they
may get killed in battle; it is unclear if their VP counts if they are Captured
 NOTE: If there is a Crown Prince and the King is killed, he immediately becomes King…
 Assassination of the King or Pope Is likely the best bet but has only 50% of success…
