WHAT IS THE METAVERSE?


There is no specific definition of the Metaverse
however, we define it as the future continuum of the
Internet in which humans and things are represented
by programmable avatars interacting with another
In 3D digital spaces.

It is the representation of the physical world in the


digital world.

ABOUT THE SUMMIT


The idea is to have a hybrid metaverse event at a
physical location with a simultaneous virtual event in
the metaverse. The physical attendees will have the
opportunity to experience the metaverse through VR
and get a first hand experience of P2E games

SPECIFICATIONS
Technology is well known for its consistent patterns
of birthing the new and it will never be short of emerging
evolutions. The Internet is entering into a new evolution with
the sophisticated buzz word;

The Metaverse being the talk of the global village.

Metaverse and her cousins; NFTs, Blockchain, VR and AR


are the fastest growing tech trends that tech giants and
industry leaders are blending into because of the tons of
opportunities the evolution presents. However, a daunting
pattern that Africa has always depicted in various industrial
evolutions is, being Left behind or being a laggard in adop-
tion but this narrative is taking a paradigm shift.

To pioneer this shift, The African meta club organized this


event with the purpose of celebrating the marriage between
the Physical and the Digital world; PHYGITAL by bringing
industry leaders together from Kenya and globally to learn,
discuss, teach and anticipate the Road to shaping the
future of living and the Internet.We also aim to create
awareness so that brands can rapidly comprehend the
Metaverse and NFT space to strategize and position
themselves earlier into the PHYGITAL.

THE STATE OF THE METAVERSE AND WHY


BRANDS SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO IT

The Internet is being reimagined and Enterprises need


to be ready for what is coming next.

Metaverse is the next generation of consumer engagements and


experience. Mckinsey Report estimates the Metaverse could
generate $4T-$5T across consumer and enterprise use cases
According to The Citi Report ,the TAM for the Metaverse economy
could be $8T-$13T with upto 5 Billion potential users by 2030.
71% of global executives state that the Metaverse will have positive
impact on their enterprises and 42% believing it will be a
breakthrough transformation (Accenture analysis).
Crypto & Blockchain tokens being the currencies for utility in the
Metaverse Finance (Met-Fi), Africa has the highest crypto adoption
growth rate with upto 2,670%. Kenya leading with 8.4% of its popu-
lation owning cryptocurrencies (4.25 Million Kenyans).
Young people; The Millennials, Gen-Z and Gen Alpha are the early
adopters of the Metaverse Comprising of over 3 Billion gamers
using Metaverse platforms.
Africa has a rich and advantageous population of young people,
60% being under 25 with the median age of 19 years old, Leading
to Africa having the largest workforce by 2035.
The popularity of the Metaverse among the young consumers is
growing extremely fast with unquenchable demand for immersive
experiences from their favorite brands. 60% of Gen-Z consumers
believe brands should enter the Metaverse and sell their products
online with immersive experiences just like Nike & Adidas.
Africa is Metaverse ready with the emergence of Metaverse
startups like the Meta-Meta Club in Kenya, Africarare in South
Africa, Nigeria’s Thrill Digital. Tech giants spear heading The
Metaverse are also being established in Africa eg. Microsoft
and Meta.
Metaverse will contribute about 1.8% GDP growth in the
sub-Saharan African economy i.e $40 billion growth according to
Signate media report.
