Abstract

A study on “Growth and yield of three exotic Radish Lines (Raphanus

sativus var. longipinnatus)” was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agriculture Field during the
period from December to April (Robi Season), 2018. This study mainly focused on the
varietal performance on yield among the three varieties. The experiment was laid out in a
single factor design with three linss with the spacing (60×45cm).

Three lines of Radish L1 (Japanese Local Radish line -1), L2 (Japanese Local Radish line -2)
and L3 (Japanese Local Radish line -3) showed wide differences in their genotypic
constituents reflected by morphological status. Major characters of growth and yield such as
plant height, number of leaf per plant, leaf length, chlorophyll percentage, root length, root
diameter and total yield of radish were influenced by lines.

The highest plant height (64 cm) was recorded from Line -2 (L 2) and the lowest plant height
(56cm) was found Line 3 (L3) at 30 DAT. The highest number of number of leaf per plant
(22 nos) was recorded from Line -1 (L 1) and the lowest number of leaf per plant (19nos) was
found from Line 2 (L2) at 30 DAT. The highest leaf length (49.3cm) was recorded from Line
-2 (L 2) and the lowest leaf length (41.5cm) was found from Line 3 (L3) at 45 DAT. It was
observed that Line-2 (L2) gave the highest root length (23cm) and lowest root length (17cm)
was found Line 3 (L3) at 45 DAT. The highest fruit diameter (48.09cm) was recorded from
L2 and lowest fruit diameter (33.88cm) was found Line 3 (L3). It was observed that Line-2
(L2) gave the highest single fruit weight (589.4gm) and the lowest single fruit weight
(367.3gm) was found Line-3 (L3). The highest chlorophyll percentage (40.5%) was found
Line-3 (V3) and lowest chlorophyll percentage (31.82%) was found from line 2 (L2) at 45
DAT. However, the highest total production of radish (49.1 t/ha) was found Line-2 (L 2) and
lowest total production of radish (30.83 t/ha) was found Line 3 (L3).
