Introduction - H.J. Eysenck in 1956 invented personality inventory in Moudsley Hospital, London
which is called Moudsley personality inventory (MPI). According to this inventory, only two
personality dimensions, i.e., extraversion-introversion dimension and neuroticism- stability
dimension. Eysenck in 1965 revised the MPI and added the 3 rd dimension for personality which is
(proneness to lie, L) can be measured. In recent times, one more revision for EPI has been made and
added the 4th dimension for personality that is Psychotism. The revised inventory is named as
Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, EPQ. This inventory is very useful and popular and in 1988 its
Hindi adaptation has been introduced by Dr. B. De and Dr. R. Thakur and they also added 5 th
dimension which is superstition. Hence, according to this questionnaire five dimensions are
measured. This questionnaire includes 80 items. Each dimension and number of items has been
mentioned.

(b) Arrangement for test- The testee was seated next to him. The test booklet, answer sheet,
manual etc. of EPQ (Hindi version) were placed on the table.
(c) General instruction - "I will give you a booklet containing 80 questions. Yes' and 'No' will be
written against each question. The instructions will be written on the top of the booklet.
Please read it carefully. You will also be given an answer sheet. You will read the question
and mark 'yes' or 'no' on this answer sheet. Keep in mind that none of these answers is
wrong. If you have any hesitation, mark the answer that you think is right.
(d) Actual administration of the test- After talking to the testee and establishing rapport and
giving general instructions, the test booklet and answer sheet were given to him. After
answering all the questions, the booklet and answer sheet were taken back. Then with the
help of scoring key, scoring was done on the basis of given answers. Then on the basis of
obtained scores, percentile was calculated.
Data collection
Dimension E N P L S
Scores 11 8 6 11 4
Percentile 41 52 53 32 47
Interpretation of the results - The data collection table shows that our test taker scored 11 on the
extraversion-introversion dimension (E), whose percentile or PR. This means that our test taker is
only above 41% of the population i.e., below 59% of the population. Hence the virtue of extroversion
is average in him. She scores 8 on the neuroticism dimension (N) and her PR is 52. This means that
our examinee is above 52% of the population i.e., just below 48%. So, she is average on this
dimension as well. The testee's score on the psychotism (P) dimension is 6, with a percentile of 53.
This means that he is above 53% people and below 47% people. So, she is average on this dimension
as well. Our examinee's score on the proneness to lie (L) dimension The score is 11, whose percentile
is 32. That means she is above only 32% of the people and below 68% of the people. Hence, she has
a below average tendency to lie. Our examinee scores 4 on the Superstition dimension, S, whose
percentile is 47. This means that on this dimension she is above 47% of the people and below 53% of
the people. So here also it is average.
