Poverty is not just a lack of material things; it is also a lack of opportunity.

Individuals who are poor

often have little access to education, decent health care, or decent jobs. Business ventures can often be
risky, but what motivates some people to take that risk? Some people believe that poverty is the main
driving force why people venture into business. Often, these ventures are an attempt to escape from a
difficult situation or to improve one’s economic condition.

The seminar on "2021 Poverty Statistics on Region IX" helped me to explore the idea that poverty is the
main driving force why people venture into business. This is a question that has been asked by many
people and it has yet to be fully answered. There are many reasons why people might want to start a
business and many of those reasons stem from poverty. In some cases, people might be motivated to
start a business because they see it as an opportunity to improve their situation.

There is an overwhelming evidence suggesting that poverty has a significant impact on business
opportunities. Some studies have shown that poverty can lead to reduced productivity, innovation and
growth (Montinola, Qian, & Weingast, 1995). Moreover, it decreases the access to essential resources,
services and information, which creates an unfavorable environment for businesses. In addition, poverty
can also lead to social tensions and political instability, which further deteriorates the business
environment (Sachs, 2005).

The effects of poverty on businesses have been well documented, and there is no denying that poverty
is a major obstacle to business success. However, it is important to note that businesses can thrive in
spite of poverty, and that poverty need not be a death sentence for businesses. In fact, many businesses
have been able to overcome the challenges posed by poverty and go on to become successful. There are
a number of factors that can help businesses to succeed in spite of poverty, and these will be discussed
in the following paragraphs.

While the impact of poverty on business opportunities has been widely studied, its effect on the
decision-making process of entrepreneurs has received less attention. This is surprising given that
entrepreneurs play a key role in economic development. Entrepreneurs are the ones who identify and
exploit business opportunities, which leads to the creation of new businesses and jobs. Therefore,
understanding how poverty affects the decision-making process of entrepreneurs is important for policy
makers who want to promote economic development.

Despite the fact that poverty has a lot of negative effects on businesses, it also provides some
opportunities. For instance, businesses can target the low-income market segment, which is often
overlooked by other businesses. In addition, businesses can also develop innovative products and
services that are affordable for low-income consumers. Moreover, businesses can also help to alleviate
poverty by providing employment opportunities and by paying taxes, which can help to fund social
welfare programs.

Moreover, after the furom discussion I was able to realize that we are actually not that poop instead we
are leas educated. More importantly in prioritizing our needs rather than wants and disciplining
ourselves and adjust our lifest6to the best that we can as what Mrs. Pamaran have mentioned, "don't
try to be somebody you are not" which validates the aforementioned above. Accordingly, as Mrs
Pamaran once said in the forum, "it is not about how much you earn, but how much you spend" which
has really a relevant impact that we can discern and or reflect to ourselves as well as share to our
parents so that we can maximize well the digits that we have. Ever since, I really appreciate the value of
money as I can really observe and feel how hard it is for my parents to earn those but after the forum or
the talk of Mrs. Pamaran on Poverty Statistics I was able to grasped more real life lessons that are
impactful not only to me as a student and dependent to my parents but also to be a responsible citizen
to help my home country.

Thus, money is never the problem why poverty has been arising but rather the level of awareness of
each individual and the lack of information as to being poor. It all depends on each individual then to
alleviate poverty in our country. It is not the government's problem as they've done what they should've
done but now the problem is on the people. We, as citizens should know how to prioritize and know
well our needs to maximize it well instead of too much wants. We should know the value of money so
we would also know how we can spend it well.
