marks each. 6. Section E has 3 case based integrated units of assessment (04
marks each) with subparts of the values of 1, 1 and 2 marks each respectively.
7. All Questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice in 2 Qs of 5 marks,
2 Qs of 3 marks and 2 Questions of 2 marks has been provided. An internal
choice has been provided in the 2marks questions of Section E 8. Draw neat

Section C consists of 6 questions of 3 marks each.
Q26 Given that √3 is irrational, prove that 4-2√3 is irrational.
Q27 If sum of the squares of zeroes of the polynomial p(x)=x 2-7x+k is
73 , find the value of k.
Q28 The sum of a two digit number and the number formed by
interchanging its digits is 110. If 10 is subtracted from the first
number, the new number is 4 more than 5 times the sum of the
digits in the first number. Find the first number.
OR
I am three times as old as my son. Five years later, I shall be two
and a half times as old as my son. How old am I and how old is my
son?
Q29 Prove the following identity:

Q30 In figure, XY and X’Y’ are two parallel tangents to a circle with
centre O and another tangent AB with point of contact C
intersecting XY at A and X’Y’ at B. Prove that ∠AOB = 90°.

OR
A circle is inscribed in triangle ABC, such that it touches the sides
AB, BC and CA at points D, E and F respectively. If the lengths of
sides AB, BC and CA are 12cm, 8cm and 10cm respectively, find
the lengths of AD, BE and CF.
Q31 A card is drawn at random from a well shuffled pack of 52 playing
cards. Find the probability of

SECTION D
Section D consists of 4 questions of 5 marks each.
Q32 A plane left 30 minutes late than its scheduled time and in order to
reach the destination 1500km away in time it had to increase its
speed by 100km/hr from its usual speed. Find the usual speed of
the plane.
OR
At t minutes past 2pm, the time needed by the minutes hand of a

clock to show 3pm was found to be 3 minutes less than


minutes. Find t.

Q33 State and prove the basic proportionality theorem.


Using the above theorem prove that If D and E are points on sides
AB and AC respectively of a triangle ABC such that DE is parallel
to BC and BD=CE then ABC is an isosceles triangle.
Q34 A solid iron pole consists of a cylinder of height 220 cm and base
diameter 24 cm,which is surmounted by another cylinder of height
60 cm and radius 8 cm. Find the mass of the pole, given that 1 cm 3
of iron has approximately 8g mass. (Use π= 3.14)
OR
A toy is in the form of a cone of radius 3.5cm mounted on a
hemisphere of same radius . The total height of the toy is 15.5 cm.
Find the total surface area of the toy.

SECTION E
Case study based questions are compulsory.(4 marks each with
sub parts of the values 1,1 and 2 marks each respectively.)
Q36 Radio towers are used for transmitting a range of communication
services including radio and television. The tower will either act as
an antenna itself or support one or more antennas on its structure,
including microwave dishes. They are among the tallest human-
made structures. There are 2 main types: guyed and self-
supporting structures.
On a similar concept, a radio station tower was built in two
sections A and B . Tower is supported by wires from a point O .
Distance between the base of the tower and point O is 36 m. From
point O , the angle of elevation of the top of section B is 30 0 and
the angle of elevation of the top of section A is 450.
(i) What is the height of the section B ? 1
(ii) What is the height of the section A ? 1
(iii) What is the length of the wire structure from the point O to
the top of section A ? 2

India is competitive manufacturing location due to the low cost of
manpower and strong technical and engineering capabilities
contributing to higher quality production runs. The production of
TV sets in a factory increases uniformly by a fixed number every
year. It produced 16000 sets in 6th year and 22600 in 9th year

Q38 In order to conduct Sports Day activities in your School, lines have
been drawn with chalk powder at a distance of 1 m each, in a
rectangular shaped ground ABCD, 100 flowerpots have been
placed at a distance of 1 m from each other along AD, as shown in
given figure below. Niharika runs 1/4 th the distance AD on the 2nd
line and posts a green flag. Preet runs 1/5 th distance AD on the
eighth line and posts a red flag.
1. What is the distance between both the flags? 1
2. Find the position of green flag 1
3. If Rashmi has to post a blue flag exactly halfway between
the line segment joining the two flags, where should she
