I. FILL IN THE BLANKS
1. Indian constitution was accepted on 26 January 1950.
2. The constitution describes India as a democratic, socialist, secular
republic.
3. The state is ruled by single leader who has absolute power is called
dictatorship.
4. The principle of treating all the people in the country as equals is called
socialism.
II. DEFINE
1. Republic- A country is ruled by elected leaders rather than by a king or
queen.
2. Government -A body of people that governs or rules a country.
3. Democracy- Kind of government where people vote to elect the leaders
who run the country.
III. ANSWER THE FOLLOWING
1. State a few fundamental rights of the people of India.
Ans. Some of the fundamental rights are
a) Right to equality.
b) Right to follow any religion.
c) Right to justice.
d) Right to live and travel anywhere in the country.
e) Right to choose our profession.
2. State a few of our fundamental duties as citizen of India.
Ans. Some of the fundamental duties are
a) We must follow the rules laid down by the constitution.
b) We must honour the National Flag and National Anthem.
c) We must protect our national property.
d) We must protect the environment of the country.
e) We must treat all Indians as equal.
