become an adult is called metamorphosis.

Eg:- Cockroach:- Egg - Nymph - Adult cockroach.

V. Give Reason

1) Fishes lay thousands of eggs at a time.

Ans: - Fishes lay thousands of eggs at a time because some of the eggs are
a. eaten by big animals or fishes.
b. some will not get enough food to grow.
c. some of them will not hatch into fries.

VI. Answer the following

1) What are mammals? List any two characteristic features of mammals.

Ans: Animals that give birth to their young ones are called mammals. The
characteristic features of mammals are-
a) They have fur or hair on their body.
b) They feed their young ones with their own milk.

2) What is reproduction? List two ways by which animals reproduce.

Ans: Reproduction is a process by which living organism produce another one


of their own kind. Animals reproduce by-
a) Giving birth to young ones.
b) Laying eggs.
