Proposed title: Factors that affect the 3rd batch of SHS graduates in Davao City in
continuing their college journey amidst the pandemic. The researchers chose this
topic to give information about the possible factors that can affect the students. We,
want to know the students experiences and insights about their college journey amidst
the pandemic
Problem:
COVID-19 had such a substantial impact around how worldwide education is
conducted. Due to the pandemic, many of students were affected by educational
institution closures, culminating in the largest online movement in educational history.
Universities had to quickly change to virtual and digital methods as a result of the
unexpected shift away from classrooms in many parts of the world. Many people believe
that after the pandemic, the adoption of online distance learning will continue. A new
hybrid educational system is predicted to emerge, and given the digital divide, new
educational approaches may worsen inequality gaps. And apart from that, a range of
factors and challenges affects the 3rd batch of SHS graduates in Davao City to continue
their college education despite the pandemic. There are 188 countries as of April 06,
2020. Educational countermeasures are taken to continue educating the students
despite the COVID-19 predicaments. (Toquero, 2020)
Many countries, including India, have already been facing the impacts of all the
changes in educational systems, which now include online classes. In India, the
secondary school dropout rate is above 17 percent, whereas the upper-primary (VI to
VIII) and elementary school dropout rates are 1.8 percent and 1.5 percent, respectively
(Selvam, 2021). Furthermore, 26% of post-secondary students in Canada drop out after
taking an online course (Créchet, 2020). There are 16.9 million college enrollees from
17.5 million college enrollees before the pandemic. Overall college enrollment dropped
by 3.5 percent or 603,000 students (Sedmak, 2021). Locally, the pandemic has
wreaked havoc on many families' finances, forcing some to shift their children from
private to public institutions, where tuition is free. Still somehow, 2.3 million former
students are no longer enrolled in public or private schools (Gatchalian, 2020).
