First of all, I would like to thank my friends, cousins and family

members for their constant support. Throughout this journey, our
honourable faculty member, Dr. Nadra Islam ma’am was so helpful
and kind towards me with the proper guidelines. During this
pandemic, collecting data and conducting a research paper was not so
easy. But the continuous support from ma’am made it easier to
research through online. I would also like to appreciate the
respondents to participate in my survey.
Abstract

This study analyzes the after effects of pandemic of COVID-19 on

NSU students. COVID-19 outbreak has caused a downward spiral
within the world economy and caused an enormous impact on the
higher education system. The sudden closure of campuses as a social
distancing measure to stop community transmission has shifted face-
to-face classes to online learning systems. This has thrown the main
target on utilising eLearning tools and platforms for effective student
engagement which can have limitations of accessibility and
affordability for several students. Within the post-pandemic situation,
the utilization of eLearning and virtual education may become an
integral a part of the higher education system. But through this
eLearning process students need good network connection, stable
electricity, compatible gadgets etc which many of students may or
may not have. My aim for this study purpose is to find out the after
effects of the pandemic on the students academic curricular activities
during this quarantine and their thoughts about it, their physical,
mental and financial conditions while going through this pandemic
situation.

Introduction

The very first outbreak of COVID-19 occurred in Wuhan, China.

Gradually, the virus got spread worldwide. Due to the rapid increase
in the number of COVID-19 cases within a very short period, the
outbreak of this virus was announced as a pandemic .On 11 March,
WHO declared COVID-19 as a pandemic. (Timeline of the COVID-
19 Pandemic, 2020) In Wikipedia. The sudden outbreak of novel
Corona virus caused huge devastation across the world. All of the
countries across the world have met the worst days of their national
economy. This pandemic has disrupted the educational institutions,
the business organizations and etc. There is not a particular sector
which did not face difficulties in this time of pandemic. Besides, it is
known to us already that maintaining social distance is the only way
to prevent COVID-19. As per the instruction of WHO, quarantine and
lockdown was introduced. During lockdown, the whole world had to
face the darkest days of the century.

The first case of COVID-19 in Bangladesh was found in 8 March,

2020. (COVID-19 Pandemic in Bangladesh, 2020) In Wikipedia.
After that the virus kept spreading all across the country and its
widespread existence all around the country exacerbated the situation
more and more. Almost every sectors of our country faced huge
obstruction due to this pandemic. The educational institutions
remained off for a long time. Most of the private universities started
conducting classes online with the help of different apps like; google
classroom, zoom etc. North South University was the first one to take
initiative for online classes. With online classes, the students could
continue their semester thoroughly. However, it is an undeniable fact
that the mental healths, physical health, academic result, daily life,
perception of the students of North South University are affected by
this pandemic.

The students are facing a very challenging time while balancing their
study and daily life. There are many students who are facing severe
financial crisis, some lost their family members due to the prevalence
of pandemic, and some students are suffering from COVID-19.
Despite of facing all these, the students are continuing the semesters.
The teachers are struggling in some cases as well. The students are
staying at home most of the time and this is making changes in their
regular activities. The pandemic has put an impact on the social life of
the students, their social skills, communication skills have been lower.
The changes in food habit, changes in sleeping cycle, changes in
behaviour and perception have affected their lifestyle and activities.
Now that the existence of corona virus does not haunt people rather
they are very cautious. So, the whole world has been evolving this
new normal.

Through my research, I would like to know the current condition of

the students of North South University, how they are affected by the
effects of pandemic. I would also like to find out if they are facing
any kind of financial crisis or not and whether they are facing
hamperwhile paying for their tuition fees or not. By conducting this
research, I would try to figure out what is the physical and mental
condition of the students of North South University. I would also like
to know the academic performance of the students, how the teachers
are responding to the students, how are they dealing with their online
examination system and thus it’ll help me to know whether the
education is putting an effective impact on the students or not. I hope
my research would help me to find out the after effects of pandemic
on the students of North South University.
Background:

Education sector, which is

the backbone of a country, has also
been greatly affected by the
pandemic.

Education sector, which is

the backbone of a country, has also
been greatly affected by the
pandemic.
Education sector, which is the backbone of a country, has also been
greatly affected by the pandemic. COVID19 had disrupted our daily
life in every possible ways. Its sudden occurrence hampered our life
to a great extent. Maintaining social distance, staying in quarantine,
closing of the educational institutions, moving to online classes and e
learning had put effects on the students. Most of the universities
started taking online classes at the very beginning. North South
University started their online education journey within a few days of
closing their university. The students as well as the teachers had to
cope up with all the new methods. While coping up with new
methods, the students faced difficulties. There are many students who
faced financial crisis due to this pandemic and failed to pay for the
tuition fees in time. Despite of having load shedding issues, poor
network connections, network failures, damaged or problematic
gadgets, many students took part in regular online classes and sat for
the online examination.

Research Question:

In my research, I plan to investigate the after effects of COVID-19 on

NSU students. My research will address the following questions:
1. Have students lost their regular connection with academic
curriculum?
2. Could every student manage their tuition fees?
3. Could every student adapt this new online education system?
4. How are the students dealing with new changes in their academic
curriculum?
5. What is the physical condition of the students?
6. Could they attend all the classes?
7. How is the mental condition of NSU students during this
pandemic?
8. Have they faced any issue while socializing with people?
9. How are the students dealing with the new examination system?

Hypothesis:

The COVID 19 has changed and upturned our daily life. From my
research, I would try to assume how the students are affected and how
are they dealing with the changes. What mental and physical
conditions they are going through. What are the academic changes
and the impact of the changes on their studies. I would also try to find
out the financial condition of the students after the arrival of the
pandemic.

Research Methodology:

For primary research, I made a questionnaire with different type of

questions and this helped me to collect data. I had asked the questions
to the students of NSU and I kept record of their answers. I took a
sample of 35 people. Most of my respondents were from BBA
department. Most of my questionnaires include MCQs that are related
to my research topic.
For my secondary research, I went through newspapers, journals,
articles and took the help of internet.
DATA PRESENTATION AND ANALYSIS:

Due to the current pandemic situation, it was not possible to collect

data offline for the survey. So, I surveyed a total of 35 people through
